Despite possessing the best facilities and largest budget of any Garden in the capital, Hijiribashi is dedicated to educating "the intellects who will lead Lilies," and as such it rarely if ever participates in combat. For this reason, it is sometimes referred to as the "Toothless Garden."

The Tokyo region as a whole is divided into three defense zones, each protected by one of the Three Houses of Tokyo ([[Irma]], [[Ludvico]], and [[Odaiba]]). Hijiribashi has no defense zone assigned to it, and so little pressure to fight. Instead, the Lilies of Hijiribashi dedicate themselves to academics and tactical research, and in that respect, are top class. The Garden emphasizes its unique teaching methods in the "Sakuranomori Pledge," which combines the teachings of [[wikipedia:Hagakure|Hagakure]] and [[wikipedia:Confucianism|Confucianism]] with the sexism removed, with the cultivation of a refined spirit that isn't solely consumed with battle. This provides the baseline for the Garden's teachings, which hopes to promote a sound mind within its students.

While carrying weapons to defend oneself is not unheard of even in this day and age, most Gardens prevent Lilies from carrying or using their CHARMs while on school grounds outside of specific training areas. In Sakuranomori's case however, all students are permitted to carry their CHARMs at all times, and even duels are permitted, so long as permission is obtained from instructors.

There is a massive, sacred tree on the campus, alongside a large Shinto shrine. Entrance ceremonies into Sakuranomori are held at the Shrine, so it has taken on a special significance among the students. "Let us meet before the Shrine" — to a Sakuranomori Lily, this is a phrase that signals one's preparedness for death, and a kind of final farewell before a battle.

Sakuranomori has two top seats of political power. One is the Shrine Priestess, who is elected by students that are involved with the maintenance and care of the shrine on the campus grounds. The Priestess oversees all political, cultural, and ritual affairs within the Garden. The Oban meanwhile is similar to Yurigaoka's Brynhildr in that she serves as the military commander of all Lilies at the Garden. She is elected by students not involved with the shrine.

For ages, the two factions have been feuding, a natural consequence of rival power centers. However, the current Oban, [[Miyazaki Hikaru]], and the current Priestess [[Okada Shiho]], are childhood friends, and moreover, get along so well as to be viewed like a married couple. The feuding between the factions remains, but there may be change on the horizon.

== Shell Unions ==
Similar to [[Yurigaoka]]'s Schutzengel Oath, Sakuranomori has a sisterhood system called a Shell Union (一つ貝 ''hitotsu kai''), symbolizing two halves of a shell making up a whole. In fact, such a pairing has a ''literal'' shell that it holds onto, and these shells have names and even decorations, for they're meant to be an inherited tradition. Shell Unions are composed of an upperclassman and her junior. The key difference from Yurigaoka's tradition however is that when the older girl enters her third year, she is expected to choose a successor for her half of the shell among the first year students, then act as her guide. The then-second year partner does not get to choose whom she is bonded with.

== Katakamuna Seal ==
Rather than using the [[Neunwelt Tactic]], Sakuranomori Lilies utilize a special "joint attack" tactic called the Katakamuna Seal. Eight Lilies are charged with the sequential engraving of symbols called ''monsho'' (紋傷 ''lit. crest scars''). Monsho are placed either on a single Huge (if it's an elite Huge), or on the ground (if targeting a mass of lesser Huge). Then, one of the Lilies triggers the Final Blade (終の太刀 ''tsui no tatsu'') by absorbing the magie imbued into the monsho into her CHARM. The amount of power is derived from the number of monsho placed, as well as where they are placed.

During the Final Blade period, the Lily enters a state called [[Divine Possession]]. She becomes surrounded in a swirling aura colored like the primary color of her CHARM, and her hair becomes a similar color. Her abilities are vastly boosted, as well. However, this state places a great deal of strain on the Lily's body and mind. Depending on the experience and skill of the Lily, it is a state that can only be maintained for a maximum of nine seconds. During that time, she must strike the target Huge (or ground, if targeting a group) and violently disperse all the magie she has absorbed, or the magie will be lost (and likely she won't survive it either).

In the past year, Sakuranomori has also started training its students in performing the Neunwelt.

The name of Katakamuna (片神名) comes from the concept of "the name of all things sacred and profane," where profane means simply "whatever is not divine" rather than meaning "sin/blasphemy." The full name of the technique is 片神名封神術式, ''katakamuna houshin jutsushiki'', which could be something like "Katakamuna God-Binding Ritual," and could be taken to mean "sealing away the core of what makes a god divine." The way it is translated here (Katakamuna Seal) is because "katakamuna" is too difficult to bring over in a succinct fashion, and Sakuranomori is a Japanese-themed school anyway. Reducing it to merely "Seal" is in the interest of making something snappy-sounding.

===The battle against the Ultra-class Huge Fafnir===

Shortly after the [[Odaiba Counteroffensive]], the Ultra-class [[Huge]] Fafnir, one of the world's [[Huge#The Seven Great Ultras|Seven Great Ultras]], emerged on Sado, an island directly facing Niigata which was the territory of Ryuto's Legion Dúfa. The Fafnir's appearance was soon followed by a large scale onslaught, with hordes of Huge that included [[Huge#Special-type Huge|Irregular]] and Gigant-types laying wast upon the island while the Fafnir began the formation of its [[Nest]]. Legions Dúfa and Uðr, as well as Ryuto's junior high Lilies, immediately moved to intercept the Huge in the island and safeguard its civilians. Meanwhile, Legions Blóðughadda and Hefring stationed themselves along the coast of Niigata, where they led Ryuto's efforts to prevent the Huge from reaching the mainland. Legion Himinglæva also participated in this battle.

With Legion Uðr's aid, Dúfa achieved major victories in this battle, as through their efforts, the formation of the Fafnir's Nest was significantly delayed, while all the civilians of the island were successfully evacuated. However, with the exception of the first year [[Sumitani Miki]], all of Dúfa's members were killed in fighting to ensure the safe evacuation of one of Sado's northern cities. On the other hand, Blóðughadda and Hefring were successful in preventing the Huge from reaching the coast, and despite Ryuto's failure to prevent the Fafnir from completing its Nest, the two Legions continuously emerged victorious in the subsequent battles to defend mainland Japan from the masses of Huge pouring from the Nest in Sado.

Ryuto's conflict with the Fafnir's forces continued for the entire year that followed, with the Huge overtaking Sado Island completely, and eventually succeeding in reaching Niigata, with many territories within the prefecture being lost to their control. Legion Blóðughadda went on to become the centerpiece of Ryuto's defensive efforts, with the Garden becoming overy reliant on them. However, during an operation carried out by Blóðughadda in the overrun city of Sanjo, in Chuetsu, their captain, [[Miyairi Fubuki]], suffered grave injuries following an encounter with an Irregular Huge. This forced Blóðughadda to retreat from Ryuto's front lines, leading Ryuto's military efforts to completely come undone. Fubuki's accident also became led to her Legion's disbandment, and the entire incident birthed an internal divide that greatly hindered Ryuto, very nearly bringin the Garden to its collapse.

In the face of this crisis, Himinglæva's [[Sengo Yuuna]] decided, as a last resort, to request the aid of [[Yurigaoka Girls' Academy]]'s [[Legion Álfheimr (2nd generation)|Legion Álfheimr]] in hopes of carrying out a final strategy directly against the Fafnir. Following their arrival, Álfheimr primarily served as a replacement for Blóðughadda, frequently deploying with Himinglæva to neutralize Irregular and Gigant-class Huge and aid the other Legions of the Nine in their own deployments. Through their efforts, much of the divide hindering Ryuto's capabilities was resolved, allowing the Garden to resume its offensive. After being joined by Odaiba Girls' School's Legions [[Legion Heorot Saints|Heorot Saints]] and [[Legion Hronesnæsse|Hronesnæsse]], Álfheimr and the captains of the Legions of the Nine were able to carry out their final operation against the Fafnir, the Mission Drachentöter, which finally succeeded in destroying the Ultra-class Huge.

== History ==

Originally, the responsibility of defending Sagami Bay fell to [[Yurigaoka Girls' Academy]] and [[Zushi International Girls' High School]]. However, since Gigant-type Huge sometimes appeared among the strays, powerful Legions had to regularly conduct reconnaissance and extermination missions. Yurigaoka and Zushi International alternated in patrolling the coastline.

However, as the frequency of Huge attacks increased, it became clear that reconnaissance alone was no longer sufficient. Implementing a Light Wall System, similar to that of [[Odaiba Girls' School]], was considered. But due to the vast length of the coastline, both the construction costs and time required were deemed impractical.

Thus, the decision was made to establish a Support Garden specifically tasked with the daily defense of Sagami Bay. As a result, Enoshima Maritime Girls' School was founded. Unlike other Gardens, this academy does not have a fixed national defense zone and focuses exclusively on eliminating stray Huge in eastern Sagami Bay<ref name="enoshima_ep0" />.

== Relationship with Yurigaoka ==

Although Enoshima Maritime Girls' School is primarily a support Garden, it still maintains its status as a Garden. The campus, while not equipped with full-scale defenses, does have a Wide-Area Defense System, which weakens the power of Huge approaching from Sagami Bay, ensuring the safety of the region. The presence of this Garden has helped suppress the invasion of stray Huge from the sea.

Their iconic jet boots, Talaria, undergo continuous upgrades, with much of the school's Arsenal Department dedicated to research and development in this area. As a Support Garden working alongside Yurigaoka Girls' Academy, the school mainly engages in combat against small-type and mid-type Huge. The following article attempts to explain the concept underlying the execution of a [[Neunwelt Tactic]] in Assault Lily. It does not come from an official source, but rather is pulled together from an understanding of what Neunwelts are based on: soccer (or football/fútbol if you prefer). This article seeks not only to instill an idea of what "positions" mean (AZ/TZ/BZ), but why Lilies might occupy those positions, and also, what exactly is going on between Lilies when they do a Neunwelt Tactic and why they need to do it at all. The hope is to deepen your appreciation for the Assault Lily world.

== The Problem to be Solved ==
To begin with, let's revisit what a Neunwelt Tactic is: nine Lilies pass a magiesphere around to charge it with their own magie, generating a kind of magical bomb. They then shoot the charged magiesphere at their target Huge. If it hits, the magiesphere destroys that Huge. This tactic is not without its risks however, because upon charging the magiesphere, each Lily vastly drains her own reserve of magie, leaving her relatively weak and in grave danger against Huge. If the Neunwelt misses, if the magiesphere is dropped, or if other Huge knock the magiesphere away (or even steal it!), then the Lilies performing the Neunwelt are suddenly in dire straits. This is why the Neunwelt Tactic is often reserved for powerful foes that Lilies can't take down with CHARMs, such as Gigants, Ultras, or particularly dangerous irregulars.

For ease, for the rest of this article we'll be using just "Gigant" to denote "the target Huge," as they are the most common target.

== Conceptualizing the Field ==
It's all but unheard of to encounter a Gigant without an escort of lesser Huge. That is to say, it's not nine Lilies versus a single Gigant. Rather, it's usually nine Lilies versus dozens if not hundreds of Huge, '''and''' the Gigant. Furthermore, as mentioned previously, magiespheres are magical bombs, and particularly when fully charged, are unstable and heavy.

This makes "pre-charging" a Neunwelt too much risk for too little return. The magiesphere might fizzle out, and lugging the heavy orb takes too much effort. Furthermore, while they can be fired from CHARMs like a bullet, the Gigant and its escort are a small army and occupy a great deal of space. "Sniping" a Gigant in this fashion is unlikely at best. Though this is only meant as an example, imagine trying to hit a target with a cannonball, fired not from a cannon but a rifle, at a distance of 1 kilometer or more. It's certainly not easy (in fact, technically impossible, but just go with it). Therefore, most Neunwelts are performed fairly close to a Gigant, and certainly within range of its escort.

Now, try to imagine it: a team of nine Lilies, beset by dozens if not hundreds of Huge, many of them as big as they are or even bigger, with a massive and towering monster firing lasers out of its eyes or whatever not too far away, all doing their best to kill those Lilies. Moreover, the Lilies must pass a bomb between them and charge it before they're overwhelmed or any of them get injured and can't contribute their magie to the magiesphere. They can't stand huddled in a group or they'd be too easy to take out. Yet to spread out means they must individually fight lesser Huge to open passing lanes and give themselves space to charge the magiesphere...

All this to say that successfully ''completing'' a Neunwelt takes some strategy, not to mention skill and training.

== Now This is Soccer ==
So now the team of nine Lilies are spread out on the field and each fighting lesser Huge. Immediate problem: how do they know where each other is? How do they know who to pass to? This problem is solved by establishing a '''formation'''. A formation stipulates where each Lily is meant to fight in relation to one another, as well as to the Gigant. In this fashion, just by looking at the Gigant and knowing your own position on the field, the Lily knows roughly where every other Lily is, too.

This doesn't just take into account left-or-right of the Gigant, but also the conceptual front-to-back relative to the Gigant. Because Lilies are generally fighting their way through the Gigant's escort in order to close the distance to the Gigant itself, it becomes useful to establish distancing "ranks" so that you know how far you can move up. After all, if you just charge in recklessly, you're going to get surrounded by Huge. You also want to maintain sufficient distance so you're spread out enough that there's less danger of area damage, and because one side of the battlefield might be more open than another, making passing safer on that side.

=== Three Zones ===

The first concept to understand is that of the front-to-back distancing, called "zones." This concept is of course similar to soccer but also is not unfamiliar to people who play video games which have a front line and a back line in combat. Only here, we have a front, mid, ''and'' back line. The front line is called the '''Attacking Zone''' (AZ), the mid line is called the '''Tactical Zone''' (TZ), and the back line is called, easily enough, the '''Back Zone''' (BZ).

==== Attacking Zone (AZ) ====
The AZ is the front line of combat. It's always in the thick of it. Any Lily that stands in the AZ is essentially a kind of tanking role or melee DPS role for their legion. Because they are always the front rank, they are always surrounded in Huge. To stand on the AZ requires exceptional skill at dueling Huge one on one. In a sense, you could say these usually are "blade mode" Lilies. They also most often are the ones who make the finish shot and destroy the Huge (though middle shots in the TZ, and sniper shots in the BZ, are not unknown).

==== Tactical Zone (TZ) ====
The TZ is the flex area. The Huge are not quite as thick here, since the AZ deals with most of them, but that doesn't mean they don't take on their fair share of Huge. TZ Lilies generally are one of two types: Lilies who are flexible and help the AZ or the BZ as the situation demands, or they're commanders who need to see the whole battlefield. If the AZ is "blade mode" then TZ is both blade and shooting mode.

==== Back Zone (BZ) ====
The BZ, being the furthest away from the front line, are usually support or ranged DPS type Lilies. It's the safest area (relatively speaking) and has the fewest Huge of all three zones. Usually the Lilies here are those who specialize in shooting mode with their CHARMs, or are supportive types who focus on using their rare skills to boost the TZ and AZ. Because they are in the safest area, they also facilitate passes to another part of the field, or just to keep the magiesphere safe for a moment. You can guess what mode their CHARMs usually are, I'm sure.

=== Five Lanes ===
While knowing where to stand relative to left-or-right of the Gigant is useful on its own, there's also a bit of strategy to the field itself and its left-to-right positioning. This is done by dividing the field, conceptually, into five different lanes. The center lane, the left lane, the right lane, and then two "half-space" lanes between the left/right and the center. Take this example.

As you can see, the yellow lines mark out the three zones and the five lanes relative to the Huge. The green dots are the Lilies, though this is not a typical or even good formation, more just a demonstration. The center lane is considered even in soccer to be the most easily contested lane. In AL, that means it's the one where you'll encounter the most Huge. Lilies generally don't want to stand in the center lane AZ ever because it means being right in front of the Gigant and thus probably the focus of most of its attacks. It's hard to get a good finish shot off due to that pressure, as well.

The left and right lanes are usually considered "safest." Because they are away from the center lane, there's not as much traffic there. But at the same time, they're furthest away from the Gigant, even in the AZ. This makes them ideal for passing or for easing pressure on yourself, but ultimately they're not considered attacking lanes because it's too easy to miss the Gigant if you take the finish shot from them.

Meanwhile, the half-lanes are considered the "prime" aggression zones. Just far enough away from the center to have room to maneuver, but close enough to hit the Gigant with a finish shot if needed. Additionally, you generally don't want to make passes horizontally or vertically, but rather only diagonally. In soccer this is because someone intercepting a pass will then just stride right between two players, neither of whom are in a position to chase. Diagonal passes means someone is usually in the position to recover, however. In AL, your sphere can be knocked aside or even stolen, so this sort of concept can be applied as well. And the half-lanes are those diagonal positions.

== Rare Skills ==
Before we go any further, to understand why Lilies occupy the positions they do, it's good to understand [[Rare Skill|rare skills]]. If you don't know, rare skills are a Lily's super ability, essentially. By activating it, a Lily consumes more of her magie, but gains the benefits of the skill. Though rare skills aren't unique, a Lily only awakens to a single rare skill, and it usually suits her personality and combat style, as if her magie is responding to her herself.

We'll summarize what they are below quickly, just in case you need it. Note this is only the more "common" rare skills, and leaves out [[Subskill|subskills]], [[Boosted Skill|boosted skills]], [[Aberration|aberrations]], and "uncommon" or even one-off rare skills.
* [[Brave]] — A "single target" buff skill. Touch someone and they become very awesome. Can potentially be used on one's self, too.
* [[Circlet Bless]] — Most Lilies can activate only a single CHARM, but with Circlet Bless, you can activate two, giving you more power.
* [[Hawk's Eye]] — Provides a "hawk's eye" view of everything around you. Literally a top-down view of the battlefield.
* [[Heaven's Measure]] — Allows you to intuitively judge distance between everything, and sharpens your vision.
* [[Heliosphere]] — Makes Huge attacks weaker, and also can generate actual physical shields of light.
* [[Laplace]] — A magie supply skill. Literally refills the magie of your allies. Can enable two successive Neunwelts.
* [[Lunatic Trancer]] — A "battle high" skill that makes you hit harder, but slowly makes you go berserk as well.
* [[Phantasm]] — Allows you to pick a future world line you like, then telepathically transmit to allies what to do to obtain that future.
* [[Phase Transcendence]] — Gives you unlimited magie for a few seconds, then makes you sleepy.
* [[Regista]] — A package skill that boosts ally CHARM efficiency, shields the magiesphere from disruption, and telepathically communicates open passing lanes. Also gives an inaccurate "radar" of where Huge are nearby.
* [[Shukuchi]] — Makes you really fast. No bells or whistles, just speed.
* [[Testament]] — A "widening" buff that makes all other rare skills have a wider area of effect.
* [[The Way of the World]] — Lets you intuitively know the vector of all things, like Huge attacks, and thus be able to dodge them.
* [[Zenon Paradoxa]] — Combines Shukuchi and Way of the World into a single skill, though lesser effects of both.

Already you might have a sense of where Lilies with these rare skills might stand. For example, Circlet Bless, Lunatic Trancer, Phantasm, Way of the World, and Zenon Paradoxa are definitely seen on AZ Lilies more often than not. Brave, Heliosphere, Shukuchi, Testament, and certainly Regista are often on TZ Lilies. Meanwhile Hawk's Eye, Heaven's Measure, Laplace, Phase Transcendence Lilies are frequently in the BZ.

However this is by no means absolute. There are many things that may alter where a Lily prefers to stand. For example, many Boosted Lilies have Regenerator (take a guess what it does if you don't know) and therefore can afford to be more aggressive. Some Lilies can achieve an S-class with their rare skill; those that do that with Phase Transcendence no longer experience the downsides of their skill, making them far more suited for aggression. Meanwhile, someone with Heliosphere preferring support or command might be in the BZ instead of the TZ so they can focus on using their skill more.

Lastly, the positions themselves aren't absolute. A BZ Lily with Brave who can use it on herself (a state called Enrage) might move up to the AZ temporarily to help clear out Huge, then fall back again when she's at her limit. A Shukuchi Lily might zip everywhere on the battlefield as needed, shifting between AZ, TZ, and BZ.

It all depends on what the Lily individually wants, what her legion needs, and what the fight demands.

== To Your Positions (Examples) ==
The following will provide a few examples of how a few legions in the Assault Lily world organize their formations. Not only will you be able to see how they're organized in terms of lane and zone, but also how a Lily's rare skill might affect her position on the field.

[[Team Hitotsuyanagi]]'s formation is straightforward, with no real surprises. Yuyu is certainly Hitotsuyanagi's most powerful combatant, and she's right up front and center on the Gigant. Tazusa is her partner in the AZ, helping to make sure she isn't overwhelmed, and making sure she can get tagged in Phantasm should Tazusa have it active. Meanwhile, Kaede with her Regista is dead center of the formation on the defensive side of the TZ where she can issue orders and do what she does best. The offensive side of the TZ is staffed by Shenlin who helps coordinate tactically, and Mai can get anywhere with Shukuchi to help support her team.

Meanwhile, the BZ has all of the less experienced Lilies with their support-oriented rare skills. Miriam's Phase Transcendence might prompt her to move up when she's ready, but then she has a place to fall back to when she's drained. Riri's Charisma and Fumi's Hawk's Eye are both tucked safely away, and Yujia can snipe with Heaven's Measure with relative safety. Nearly all of the team is away from the AZ, making their passing safer and more stable but less aggressive.

Notice, also, that the formation is staggered and arranged in such a way that everyone has someone to diagonally pass to. There are horizontal passes (Riri/Fumi for example) but for the most part they're arranged to facilitate good passing lanes.

Meanwhile, [[Legion Gran Eple]] already looks quite different. They're more spread out, but also more concentrated towards the front. This provides them a pure balance of offense and defense—everyone can support one another, but they can also afford to be a little aggressive. Once again, they are positioned in such a way where everyone has someone to diagonally pass to. Meanwhile, there's a few surprises in store who is positioned where.

Most notable is Suzume, who has Lunatic Trancer yet is positioned in the TZ. You may have caught it in the previous example, but the TZ is sort of split in half between an offensive-leaning TZ and a defensive-leaning TZ. In this case, Suzume is on the offensive half, while Kanaho and Takane are on the defensive. Suzume is positioned as a center forward because she acts as a kind of pillar; anything that gets past the AZ, she mops up with her overwhelming strength. Meanwhile, that AZ has few surprises. Fujino's Circlet Bless, Himeka's Way of the World, and Haruna's Phase Transcendence are all offensively or tank oriented rare skills.

Meanwhile, the BZ mostly has little in the way of surprises, with Akari's Heaven's Measure allowing her to snipe freely, and Kureha being on the right wing gives her relative safety to make sure she can use Testament to buff the team. Because of Testament's defense self-debuff, however, she's of course positioned right next to Takane (Zenon Paradoxa) and Akehi (Heliosphere), either of whom can easily cover her. Despite having Regista, Kanaho is not the commander of the legion, but rather Akehi is due to her time in Herensuge, and from the back she can give orders as needed while focusing on defensive plays.

=== Formation Names ===
One last note to wrap up on, when viewing formation charts like this, they will often be given a formation "notation." You can see it in the Gran Eple example even: 3-2-1-3. This is read as how many people are in what zone starting from the BZ to the AZ. The reason why it has four numbers is, you may guess, because of the offensive/defensive TZ split. So in this case, 3-2-1-3 can be read "3 BZ, 2 defense TZ, 1 offense TZ, 3 AZ."

Gardens have different ways of organizing their Lilies into [[legion]]s.

The two most popular systems are:

* '''Top legion''', in which the Garden staff select Lilies based on certain criteria (often simply their strength) and assign them to legions. The most prestigious legion is known as the Garden's ''top legion''.

'''Assault Lily: New Chapter 2''', subtitled '''Twilight of the Flowers / The Ringing Depths''' (アサルトリリィ・新章第2弾花々の黄昏／玲瓏たる深潭) is a stage play created by AZONE International and acus. It is the sequel to [[Assault Lily: New Chapter]], and the thirteenth stage play in the ''Assault Lily'' franchise.

The stage play ran from May 17, 2024 to May 22, 2024 at the Kameari Lirio Hall. It tells two stories simultaneously, one (Twilight of the Flowers) focused on [[Legion Sanngriðr]], the other (The Ringing Depths) about an "Oshima Nest Survey Team" made up of a variety of Lilies from many Gardens.

A sequel, [[Assault Lily Sturm: Sanngriðr Chapter]], ran in April 2025.

==Summary==

Following the events of [[Assault Lily: New Chapter]], Legions [[Legion Álfheimr|Álfheimr]], [[Legion Sanngriðr|Sanngriðr]], and the Survey Team have continued to fight fiercely against the Huge on Oshima Island. Legion Sanngriðr is still facing relentless attacks by the [[Flowers of the End]], and during one clash with them, Touka discovers a clue as to who the Flowers really are. However, there's no time to solve the mystery. The Lilies haven't been able to destroy any of the Nests surrounding the island; with the Nests still growing, it isn't long before Oshima is enveloped in the [[Death Zone]] that they feared would arise.

Sanngriðr and the Survey Team embark upon a desperate attempt to destroy the Death Zone before it becomes impossible to fight within it. After dealing with a variety of threats both familiar and new, the two teams find themselves battling [[Rusalka]], the humanoid Huge, together. Misaka's newly discovered [[Sacred Dominator|Rare Skill]] has kept the exhausted Lilies on their feet, but they realize mid-Neunwelt that they won't be able to defeat Rusalka without making sacrifices. It's at that moment that they receive help from a wholly unexpected place...

==Plot==

===Prologue===

The play opens with a mysterious, dreamlike scene narrated by [[Hasebe Touka]]. She reminisces about the time when, at the [[Odaiba Counteroffensive]] one year ago, her roommate [[Kondo Misaka]] saved countless lives and inspired countless Lilies by dueling a Gigant-type alone for over twenty minutes. Ever since then, Misaka has always been there for her, and hasn't she been there for Misaka? No sooner has Touka had that thought than [[Yamaguchi Chihiro]] appears, clutching Misaka possessively to her as she quotes an ancient love poem. As Chihiro guides her offstage, Misaka glances helplessly back at Touka, and Touka screams that Misaka is hers and she won't give her to Chihiro. The lights then fade to black, and the reverie ends.

Misaka places a phone call to [[Mashima Moyu]] back at Yurigaoka, telling her all about Chihiro and the [[Flowers of the End]]. She tells Moyu that she wants to save the Flowers, but Moyu reminds her that the reason Sanngriðr is on Oshima is to destroy the Nests surrounding the island and eliminate the risk of a [[Death Zone]] forming. Moyu was previously invited to become a member of Legion Sanngriðr by Touka and [[Luise Ingels]]; she spontaneously decides to accept the invitation and join Sanngriðr's reserve members, [[Tetsukawa Toa]] and [[Nagasaka Maho]], as they fly to Oshima.

After welcoming Moyu to the legion, Misaka explains the recent situation on Oshima. Legions [[Legion Álfheimr|Álfheimr]] and [[Legion Sanngriðr|Sanngriðr]] teamed up to destroy the Senba Shallows Nest, but were interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Charybdis—one of the [[Huge#The Seven Great Ultras|Seven Great Ultras]]—and [[Rusalka|a mysterious Huge]] who's even more humanoid than the juggernauts were. The two legions joined forces with the Survey Team to drive Charybdis and its companion away, in a story [[Assault Lily: Last Bullet|that was told elsewhere]].

===The Ringing Depths, Act 1===

The Survey Team meets with [[Nakahara Mary Tomoyo]] (hereafter "Mary" to avoid confusion with Seike Tomoyo), expressing alarm that even though they killed the juggernaut on Oshima, the Nests surrounding the island are still growing. Mary deduces that there's only one possible explanation: the juggernaut did not, in fact, die.

Meanwhile, Chihiro and the Flowers have once again appeared before Sanngriðr, radiating hostility. With the legion exhausted from constant fighting, [[Kiko Totori]] tells the first-years to stay behind them, which Maho bristles at. Chihiro rants jealously about Touka's presence at Misaka's side and threatens to kill her, while Touka spits back at her that she won't give Misaka to Chihiro. Misaka tries to calm Chihiro down and convince her they're all friends, without any success. Despite [[Imai Seira]] warning her that she's out of [[Magi]], Touka charges in and attacks the Flowers. Two blades clash—Touka's CHARM, and the [[Brionac]] held by [[Otsu no Hana]]. Otsu no Hana then collapses, screaming and holding her head. Touka exclaims "Hekiru?" as Otsu no Hana flees from the battlefield in apparent confusion. Chihiro stares after the fleeing Flower, also saying the name "Hekiru," then chases after her; the other Flowers follow them.

Sanngriðr goes to meet with [[Kojima Nadeshiko]] and tell her what happened. Several of the legion's members recall that they knew a girl named [[Tsukamoto Hekiru]] in Yurigaoka's elementary school, and Touka says she recognized Otsu no Hana's Magi as Hekiru's, but they all agree that she looked nothing like the Hekiru they once knew. Nadeshiko promises to investigate, and Sanngriðr departs with no answers beyond a vague hope that this means the other Flowers are starting to come back to their senses.

On the Survey Team's side, Mary explains the juggernaut's ability to be reborn again and again by fusing with smaller Huge, growing stronger with each cycle—as a result, it's now upon the verge of becoming an Ultra. They're interrupted by what at first seems to be an earthquake, but is in fact the Nests surrounding Oshima evolving to A-rank and establishing a Death Zone. The only thing that could make the situation worse is if the juggernaut becomes an Ultra and attracts even more powerful Huge to the island. [[Funada Kiito]], leader of the Survey Team, tells Misaka and [[Amano Soraha]] over the comms that her team will correct their previous mistake and finish the juggernaut off this time. Soraha warns Kiito that she's leading the Survey Team on a suicide mission, but Kiito asks Soraha to believe in her, and Misaka agrees that Kiito is as good as her word. Misaka and Soraha decide to have their legions evacuate the civilians on Oshima while the Survey Team pursues the juggernaut.

[[Futagawa Fumi]] worries about [[Yamanashi Hibari]]'s safety, and [[Kaede Johan Nouvel]] overhears her. She reassures Fumi that Hibari would never leave her beloved Fumi all alone, for it's no secret to anyone how Hibari feels about her. Fumi wonders why Hibari hasn't asked to be her [[Schutzengel]] if that's the case, and Kaede suggests that Fumi should propose taking the Schutzengel's Oath instead; it's usually the older Lily who proposes, but they both know [[Hitotsuyanagi Riri|someone who did it the other way around]]. Fumi isn't comfortable with the thought of becoming someone's Schild in such an improper manner, but feels reassured by Kaede's words nonetheless. Meanwhile, Mary tells the Survey Team how to disable the juggernaut's cycle unit and prevent it from reviving itself again.

Over on Sanngriðr's side, Misaka and her legion fight to defend the evacuating civilians against the Huge, despite their exhaustion and the increasingly oppressive environment on Oshima. The negative Magi created by the Death Zone is particularly unbearable for the [[Boosted Lily|Boosted Lilies]] in the legion such as [[Kurokawa Nady Hanna]]. Misaka tells Hanna to stay back as she defends her Schild from attacks. When Misaka briefly collapses in exhaustion, Hanna shouts that she'll fight with her onee-sama until the bitter end and charges into the fight, but then takes a hit and collapses as well. Misaka screams Hanna's name and rushes over to her, embracing her; they're surrounded by the light of Magi, and Misaka declares that she won't let the Huge hurt her Schild. The Lilies of Sanngriðr suddenly start to find it easier to breathe, and Tokiwa points out that the negative Magie in the area has become positive, making them once again able to fight at full power. Moyu realizes that this is the power of Misaka's [[Sacred Dominator|Rare Skill]]—the same one that she used at the Odaiba Counteroffensive.

Kiito places Fumi in command of the Survey Team, and Fumi lays out a three-team strategy for defeating the juggernaut. They launch their assault, with Fumi activating [[Hawk's Eye]], then declaring that she'll fight to be worthy of the Survey Team's trust and Hibari's love. [[Shiba Tomoshibi]] and [[Kishimoto Lucia Raimu]] use Laplace to counter the effects of the Death Zone. The team in charge of breaking the juggernaut's weapon—[[Kamigoori Marimo]], [[Ueda Imari]] and [[Amamiya Sophia Seren]]—activate their Rare Skills and charge into battle. The juggernaut's formidable counterattacks cause the three Lilies to collapse one by one, and Tomoshibi leaps into the fight to defend them, while Raimu supports them all from the sidelines.

Seren says with determination that it was her father, a researcher at [[Ludvico]] Labs, who created the juggernaut and so she can't allow it to live. After a fierce struggle, Seren finally shatters the juggernaut's weapon with a mighty blow, and their team retreats. The three Lilies comprising the next team—Kiito, [[Aizawa Kazuha]] and [[Matsumura Fuka]]—move in to destroy the cycle unit. Meanwhile, Soraha and Legion Álfheimr finish the evacuation, and they decide to regroup with Sanngriðr to plan their next move.

Kazuha and Fuka succeed in destroying the small-type that the juggernaut is fused with, but moments later, it fuses with another one. They realize they'll need to destroy the small-type and the cycle unit at virtually the same time. Seeing the team hard-pressed, Sachie borrows [[Kishimoto Maria Mirai]]'s [[Asterion]] from her Schwester Raimu and enters the fray. She calls upon [[Vanishing]], her special ability as an elite user of Circlet Bless, while Raimu and Tomoshibi supply her with all of the Magi they can. Kaede also joins the fight, using [[Regista]] and allowing the other members of the Survey Team to begin the [[Neunwelt Tactic]]. When the juggernaut targets Fumi with energy blasts, she cuts down its attacks using [[Mind's Eye]].

Sachie stuns the juggernaut with a powerful strike, and the Funada twins destroy the cycle unit. Sachie and the Funadas then daze the juggernaut with a flurry of attacks before Kaede passes the Neunwelt Magisphere to Kiito for the finish shot. Kiito fires the sphere at the juggernaut from short range and lands a direct hit on it, laying the experimental Huge to rest once and for all.

===Twilight of the Flowers, Act 1===

Misaka thinks back, as she often does, to the day in elementary school when she swore an oath to form a legion together with Chihiro, Totori, and [[Imagawa Homare]]. In a flashback, Chihiro tells the others that she wants to make the strongest legion together with them and she'll never forget this oath.

In the present, Totori and Homare find Misaka, and they talk about Chihiro. The others reassure Misaka that Chihiro will come back to herself, and Misaka vows that she'll never give up on saving Chihiro. Misaka tells the others she's glad that she finally knows what her Rare Skill is, and apologizes that it took them so long to form Sanngriðr because everyone thought she didn't have one. Totori and Homare reply that they never blamed her for that and have always been proud of her. Misaka hugs the two Lilies, telling them that she loves them.

Sanngriðr places a call to Kiito and updates her on the situation. As the Death Zone has interrupted all communications between Oshima and Yurigaoka, Álfheimr's returned to Yurigaoka to tell them what's going on and secure aid from other Gardens in destroying the Nests surrounding Oshima. Sanngriðr doesn't intend to wait for them, but is instead preparing to launch an assault on one of the Nests in the morning. Kiito offers her team's assistance, though she warns Misaka that most of the Survey Team is in no condition to fight.

Fumi walks on her own through the forests of Oshima, clearly exhausted, before she collapses. Hibari shouts Fumi's name as she rushes to her side; both of them are incredibly relieved to see each other alive and more or less well. Fumi tells Hibari that she was thinking of her during the battle, and says that it inspired her to fight harder so she could see Hibari again. Hibari reacts with embarrassment and tells Fumi to rest. Fumi tells Hibari how happy she is that she got to see her again, and Hibari admits that she feels the same way about Fumi. As Fumi walks away, Hibari gazes silently after her.

Sanngriðr meets up with the four members of the Survey Team who can still fight; Kiito, Tomoshibi, Marimo, and Kazuha. They start to discuss their planned assault on the Nest, but then the Flowers attack. In the initial confusion, Chihiro grabs Luise and drags her away from the other Lilies, and the two groups enter a standoff. Grasping Luise's hand tightly, Chihiro tells Touka "You love her too, don't you?" while Touka begs Chihiro to leave Luise out of their conflict. Chihiro announces that Luise is qualified to be her [[consort]], and she doesn't intend to return her to Touka. She assures Luise in a gentle voice that they aren't enemies and encourages her to fight alongside the Flowers. Confused by the sensations overcoming her and unable to control herself, Luise screams and lashes out wildly, and Chihiro tells Luise that this is her true power—the power she can only use when together with Chihiro, her consort.

Kazuha realizes that the phenomenon occurring between Chihiro and Luise resembles the times when Raimu held hands with [[Sasaki Ran]], calling upon their power as [[Boosted Lily#Princesses of the Huge|Princesses of the Huge]]. Abruptly, Tomoshibi runs away from the group without a word, but the others can spare no thoughts for her as Chihiro continues trying to convince Luise to abandon Touka and come to her side. She tells Luise that if she hadn't died, Luise would be ''her'' Schild, and Luise denies it. Losing her temper, Touka demands that Chihiro return Luise to her, but Chihiro vows that she'll take everything that Touka has from her.

Mary is observing the encounter from a distance, with a mixture of fascination and disgust, when Tomoshibi finds her. Tomoshibi asks her how Chihiro and Luise could both be Princesses of the Huge, and Mary explains that the two Boosted Lilies share cells extracted from the same Huge. She suggests that a certain someone is running an experiment on whether any Princess can make another Princess her consort, and explains that Chihiro seeks the power of a consort in order to take everything that Touka has. Tomoshibi realizes that if this is true, it means that Chihiro is acting of her own free will. She stalks off, leaving Mary alone to quote literature and privately encourage the Lilies to spoil that certain someone's plans.

Misaka begs Chihiro to stop, but Chihiro retorts that she wants Touka to experience the same pain she felt; the pain of having everything stolen from her. Abruptly, Luise starts fighting Chihiro with all her strength, attempting to cut her own throat on Chihiro's blade. She tells Chihiro she won't let her hurt Touka, or anyone in Sanngriðr, and says that Chihiro should kill her instead. Chihiro is driven into a fury that Luise is so devoted to Touka that she would die for her, and lashes out at the others with a powerful wave of energy, knocking them all off balance.

Hanna gets back up and charges at Chihiro, screaming for her to give Luise back; she wouldn't be able to bear it if Luise died. Vowing that she won't let anyone have her roommate, even at the cost of her own life, Hanna grabs Luise by the other hand. Their Magi begins to resonate, and Hanna forces Chihiro's Magi out of Luise's body, allowing her to free her hand from Chihiro's grasp. The Lilies realize that the very same phenomenon that happened between Chihiro and Luise is now happening between Hanna and Luise, meaning that Hanna is also her consort, and they can use this power to fight the Flowers off.

Elsewhere, Tomoshibi encounters two of the Flowers. Their voices in chorus with one another, they ask Tomoshibi if she knows who they are, seeming uncertain of their own identities. Tomoshibi realizes that she does know who they are. The Flowers suddenly attack her, and when their blades clash, Tomoshibi recognizes their Magi; she calls them "the runaways." She has a flashback of two people discussing a failed escape attempt that happened "back then," in which one girl got away while two others were recaptured. In her flashback, a mysterious voice comments that the recaptured girls will be used for the worst experiments.

Sanngriðr and the reinforcements from the Survey Team battle against the rest of the Flowers. Her blade locked with Touka's, Otsu no Hana suddenly says "Touka?" before screaming and swinging her CHARM around in wild fury. Homare tells Touka that they should capture Otsu no Hana, but just as they're about to do so, someone fires an energy wave at Homare and wounds her arm badly. The Flowers flee in the resulting chaos. Sanngriðr takes Homare to Nadeshiko, who identifies the wound as being from a [[Sonic Wave]] and suggests that one of the Flowers fired it. She tells Homare she's not fit to fight and needs to rest while her wound heals, then encourages the other Lilies to focus on the Nests. They depart, leaving Homare in Nadeshiko's hands.

Alone, Seira wonders how Chihiro could have been so cruel to Luise just now when she was so kind in the past. She remembers the time when she met Chihiro back during elementary school; Chihiro told Seira about the dream she shared with the founding members of Sanngriðr, and Seira promised to make her a CHARM, an offer she graciously accepted. Seira promises to save Chihiro once she figures out how to, and further vows that she will make both of their dreams come true.

Marimo tells Imari that Tsukamoto Hekiru was another Lily who went through the "13 Sisters" experiment with her, just like Chihiro did. She suggests that maybe all of the Flowers came from the 13 Sisters experiment. Marimo recalls that Hekiru was said to have come to [[Kuramayama]] from Yurigaoka, but wonders why she looks so different now, despite her Magi feeling the same.

Simultaneously, in another location, Otsu no Hana (henceforth "Hekiru") murmurs "That was... Marimo?" as she stares blankly forward. Nadeshiko approaches her, laying a hand on her shoulder. Hekiru screams in a distressed voice that until she recognized Marimo, she thought that they were fighting Huge. Nadeshiko tries to calm her down, reassuring her that she's a Lily and so it's a given that she was fighting Huge; next time, she'll be able to tell what she's fighting for certain. She guides Hekiru away and off the stage.

Now alone, Nadeshiko recalls how she had such high hopes for Chihiro and Hekiru when they were in Yurigaoka's elementary school, and raised them like her own daughters. She ran an experiment to have Chihiro fight small-types, but Hekiru ignored her instructors' orders and joined the battle, with both Chihiro and Hekiru dying as a result. Nadeshiko retrieved their bodies, but Hekiru's body was beyond repair, and she had to [[Installation|install]] her in the body of another Lily from Kuramayama. Because of [[Inaba Mayumi]]'s meddling, though, Hekiru's install procedure didn't take fully and she rarely shows any sign of being the same Hekiru that Nadeshiko had known and loved. Nadeshiko vows that this time, she will make Hekiru into the perfect Princess of the Huge.

Chihiro arrives, and Nadeshiko rushes to her side, welcoming her back. Chihiro tearfully asks Nadeshiko why her one-time friends in Sanngriðr won't understand her. She says she just wants to be with Misaka, like in the past, without Touka getting in the way. Nadeshiko encourages Chihiro, telling her that she'll soon be able to take Misaka back and she just needs to remove that which stands in her way. She then leads Chihiro off to rest.

===The Ringing Depths, Act 2===

Morning comes, and Sanngriðr and their reinforcements make plans for how they'll take out their target Nest and its guardian, the Lambton Worm. Tomoyo is determined to make up for for Homare's absence by fighting all the more fiercely, while Toa has taken an instant fancy to Marimo and is delighted to be fighting by her side. Hibari comes up with a new formation for Sanngriðr, placing Seira in the [[Zones|AZ]]. This bothers Maho, who thinks that Totori would be amazing in that position. Homare herself sides with Maho and suggests that Totori move up to the AZ, but Totori firmly refuses, announcing that she'll stay in the TZ.

The battle begins, and the Lilies immediately start the Neunwelt Tactic, with Seira and [[Murakami Tokiwa]] declaring their determination to win. Toa uses a lull in the battle to introduce herself properly to Marimo, then gushes over her and her aggressive fighting style; Maho chides Toa for hitting on a Lily from another Garden, but Toa is unfazed. As the Neunwelt continues, Maho tells Totori she'll pass the Magisphere to her next, but Totori orders her to pass it to Tomoyo instead. In dejection, Maho makes a halfhearted pass that Tomoyo is barely able to catch.

As the first-years pass the Magisphere between themselves, Maho intercepts a pass that was meant for Hanna and announces she'll pass it to Totori. Totori activates [[Heliosphere]], then lectures Maho about being mindful of her surroundings. Maho can no longer stay silent about her feelings; she shouts that Totori doesn't inspire her when she's fighting in a "safe and boring" manner like this, and she wants to see Totori throw herself into the fight and fire one of her beautiful finish shots, for that's the Totori who she loves. She then activates her Boosted Skill, [[Ether Body]]. After Maho slaughters a number of Huge with the assistance of her clone, she passes the Magisphere to Totori.

Totori admits that ever since elementary school, she's doubted whether she deserves to stand in the AZ, and has chosen to play it safe instead. She realizes that she can't fight for Homare's sake like that, and declares that she will trust her friends. She then fires the finish shot from her position in the TZ, destroying the Lambton Worm and its Nest.

With the battle over, Maho collapses from the lingering side effects of having used Ether Body, and Totori rushes to her side. She yells at Maho for having put herself in danger, but then calms down and thanks Maho for showing her that she needs to have faith in herself. She asks Maho to continue fighting by her side as her Schild, and Maho accepts her proposal with delight, calling her "Totori-onee-sama." The two exchange necklaces as they take the [[Schutzengel|Schutzengel's Oath]]. Sanngriðr then moves to regroup with the rest of the Survey Team.

Unfortunately, it's soon evident that even though they just destroyed one of the Nests in the vicinity of Oshima, the Death Zone is still active. The Lilies realize this must mean there's another Nest out there, and Sachie suggests that it belongs to the recent arrivals, Charybdis and Rusalka. Moyu tells the others that those two Huge are special, and their Nest is maintained by their very presence; if they're driven away from it, the Nest will cease to exist. Sanngriðr decides to rest for a while and then go after Charybdis and Rusalka, but before they can return to safety, Rusalka appears before them. During their previous meeting, Rusalka could only manage to say a few mangled words, but she's now quite fluent in human language; she tells the Lilies that Charybdis isn't around and they will be serving as her playmates instead. The Lilies realize that, despite their exhaustion, they have no choice but to fight her.

Hibari pulls Fumi away from the group. She apologizes for making Fumi wait for her for so long, and says that after having her oath with her own Schutzengel annulled, she was scared and unsure whether she was worthy of Fumi. She asks Fumi to take the Schutzengel's Oath with her. In a panic, Fumi replies "Thank you very much!", then upon Hibari's prompting, corrects herself and says "Yes! It would be the honor of my life to be your Schild!" The two of them exchange necklaces, touch foreheads with one another in an intimate moment, then return to the battlefield.

Misaka tells the others that they'll need to do a Neunwelt to drive Rusalka away; everyone is nearly out of Magi, but she confidently declares they'll make it work somehow. Kiito announces that the Survey Team will keep Rusalka busy while Sanngriðr is charging the Neunwelt, and the battle begins in earnest.

As Touka and Luise fight together, Touka blames herself for having been the cause of the terrible experience that Luise went through with Chihiro, then asks Luise whether she really would have chosen Chihiro as her Schutzengel if Chihiro hadn't died. Moyu inserts herself into the conversation, telling Touka not to stress Luise out, reassuring her that she's the most important person there is to Luise, and reminding her that Luise's support is the reason she's able to fight as she does. Touka bows her head to Luise, apologizing for what she said earlier. Patting Luise on the head, she affirms that Luise is her Schild and she won't let anyone else have her. Moyu then leads the two of them in returning to the fight.

After Moyu makes a Neunwelt pass to Luise, Hanna rushes up to her. Luise and Hanna clasp hands, using the power they discovered earlier to blow away the Huge and declaring that the power of roommates can beat anything. Luise passes the Magisphere to Hibari, who is fighting by Fumi's side, both of them filled with confidence by their new bond. Kaede joins the two of them, congratulating them on having become Schutzengels and warning Hibari that she won't allow her to steal Fumi from Team Hitotsuyanagi. Hibari and Kaede briefly squabble over which legion Fumi ought to be a part of, but the roars of the Huge soon remind them that this is no time to be having a petty argument.

Marimo and Himari are dueling Rusalka, who cuts her arm and creates a CHARM-like blade from her own blood. She causes Marimo to stumble with a flurry of blows and then hits her with a blast of energy, making her collapse to the ground. Rusalka asks Marimo whether that wound's going to kill her, and in response, Imari launches a fierce attack on Rusalka and declares that Rusalka could never get the better of Marimo.

Toa arrives just in time to stop Rusalka from landing a blow on Imari, and asks to fight together with Marimo, who accepts her offer. Marimo chides Imari when she's clearly distracted by Toa's presence, then later compliments Toa on an impressive attack, calling her "little sister." This shocks Imari, who has actually taken [[Irma_Girls'_High_School_for_the_Arts#Crownshine Oath|an oath of sisterhood]] with Marimo. The three continue to fight Rusalka, and are soon joined by the Sanngriðr first-years; Rusalka playfully dashes away, and the Lilies pursue her.

===Twilight of the Flowers, Act 2===

After Sanngriðr has put all the Magi that they safely can into the sphere, Misaka passes it to Kiito, who discovers that it's not even halfway to standard Neunwelt strength. The Lilies of the Survey Team debate whether they can actually succeed at the Neunwelt, with Ui and Seren expressing reservations, while Sachie and Kiito put on a brave front. Kiito passes the sphere along—only for it to be intercepted by Hekiru, with the rest of the Flowers of the End (except for Chihiro) gathered around her. At first, the Lilies are alarmed that the Flowers stole their Magisphere, but they're even more astounded when Hekiru charges the sphere with positive Magi and passes it back to Touka.

Hekiru asks Marimo if she recognizes her, and Marimo acknowledges that she recognizes several of the Flowers of the End from their time in Kuramayama Labs together. Hekiru tells the Lilies that when they attacked Sanngriðr previously, they had been deluded into thinking they were fighting Huge, and she begs to fight together as Lilies with them by finishing their Neunwelt. The Lilies hesitate for a moment, but Kiito declares that right now they need all the help they can get, and Misaka agrees with her. They decide to pin down Rusalka while the Flowers finish charging the Magisphere.

As they observe the fight from afar, Nadeshiko and Mary chat with one another. Though Nadeshiko champions the power of the Princesses of the Huge, and Tomoyo the power of natural-born Singular Lilies, both of them agree that Rusalka must be destroyed. Rusalka likewise chats with Sanngriðr and the Survey Team as she fights them, easily holding her own against the exhausted Lilies despite being heavily outnumbered. When Seren shouts that they've created a true monster in Rusalka, the latter corrects her that she was ''born'', not created.

Chisa ([[Ki no Hana]]) charges the Neunwelt Magisphere, with visible difficulty, and passes it to Wako ([[Koh no Hana]]). Just after Wako has charged the sphere, she collapses, and Chisa screams Wako's name as she rushes over to her side. Wako says that she thinks her time is up. In a voice filled with love, she tells Chisa that all the pain she went through was worth it to be able to fight by Chisa's side. She passes the sphere back to Chisa before closing her eyes and going limp in Chisa's arms. As the other Flowers watch, Chisa tearfully tells Wako that she was the one who gave her the strength to fight. She holds out her CHARM, and Hekiru steps forward to take the Magisphere from her. Chisa cradles Wako's body in her arms and presses her forehead to that of the dead Flower before slumping to the ground with her.

Sanngriðr and the Survey Team rush in, staring in shock and horror at the scene before them. Kiito asks, in disbelief, if the two dead Flowers used up all their Magi. Tomi ([[Hei no Hana]]) tells the others that the Flowers knew using so much positive Magi might kill them, but they wanted to fight as Lilies nonetheless, for being a Lily means accepting that you may die. Hekiru asks the Lilies to allow them to die while protecting the world. Overcome with emotion, Misaka shouts that she can't allow that, but Marimo points out that some of the Flowers volunteered to be boosted and asks Misaka and Kiito to let the sacrifices they made be meaningful ones. Misaka admits that in the Flowers' situation, most Lilies would want to do the same, and Kiito accepts their decision on everyone's behalf.

The Funada sisters begin dueling Rusalka. Ui says that the two of them can't fight for much longer, and tells Kiito to use her iai on Rusalka. Kiito hesitates, saying that it takes too much Magi, but Ui reassures her that she'll be here by Kiito's side. As Kiito retreats to focus on her next strike, Ui fights Rusalka alone. Rusalka batters her with strikes until she drops her CHARM and is forced to block the next attack with her own arms. Rusalka taunts Ui about her exhaustion, only to then be hit by Kiito's mighty iai strike. Astounded by the force of the blow, she collapses, giving Ui time to retrieve her CHARM. The sisters both trade blows with Rusalka, wounding each other more and more in a savage brawl that culminates with Ui lodging her CHARM in Rusalka's torso and then driving it deeper with a series of punches.

This gruesome attack knocks Rusalka out for some time, but the Funadas are just as injured as she is, and both of them collapse nearby. Misaka rushes to their side, and they tell her to finish the fight. Rusalka pushes herself up to her knees and swings her blade wildly around, fending the Lilies off, as she says in a wavering voice "These Lilies are so ''fascinating''!"

Ryo ([[Tei no Hana]]) and Uno ([[Bo no Hana]]) battle the Huge together as they take part in the Neunwelt. Shortly after charging the Magisphere and passing it to Uno, Ryo drops her CHARM and collapses. After staring at Ryo's fallen form, Uno pours her own magie into the sphere with a wail of fury. Ayame ([[Shin no Hana]]) comes upon Uno, and their eyes meet before Uno passes the Magisphere to Ayame, then falls motionless to the ground. Ayame screams and begins slaughtering the nearby Huge with wild strikes, shouting "Makina, run away!" as she does.

Motoko ([[Jin no Hana]]) dashes over to Ayame, dropping her CHARM and embracing her fellow Flower tightly. As Fuka and Tomoshibi arrive on the scene, Motoko tells Ayame that [[Kagawa Makina|Makina]] managed to get away, and apologizes for telling the doctors, saying that she was scared and wasn't able to believe any of them could really escape. Fuka is surprised by the mention of the name "Makina," while Tomoshibi says that she knows the two Flowers; they were caught trying to escape from Kuramayama Labs, and were then experimented on until they became remnants. Ayame apologizes in turn to Motoko, telling the other Flower that she should have reassured her instead of lashing out at her.

Ayame and Motoko vow that they'll fight as Lilies together until the end. Tomoshibi approaches the two, and both of them are delighted to be reunited with her. Motoko reaches out and tries to touch Tomoshibi's cheek, but collapses before she can, and Ayame promises Motoko that she'll be with her soon. She asks Tomoshibi if she knows what happened to Makina. Fuka steps forward, telling Ayame that Makina is in her legion, [[Legion Cuélebre|Cuélebre]]. In her last moments, Ayame asks her to tell Makina something: "You don't have to come back for us anymore." Fuka promises to tell Makina those words. Weeping, she also promises that she'll tell Makina about Ayame, Motoko, and how they both fought so beautifully as Lilies.

Hekiru and Tomi fight the Huge side by side, with Hekiru using [[Lunatic Trancer]], followed by Tomi cleansing her negative Magi with [[Brave]]. Tomi leans against Hekiru, struggling to stay on her feet as she charges the Magisphere. She tells Hekiru that she volunteered to be boosted, hoping it would make her a first-rank Lily. But then she met Hekiru, and from that point onward, all that mattered was keeping her safe; it was that meeting which taught her the true source of a Lily's strength. The two are interrupted by a number of encroaching Huge, which they fight off, after which Tomi collapses. Hekiru rushes to Tomi's side and embraces her. Tomi murmurs "Thank you, Hekiru..." before her body goes limp.

Tearfully, Hekiru tells Tomi that she feels the same way about her, and thanks Tomi for always being there for her. She lays Tomi's body down, takes up her Brionac again, and charges the Magisphere. With a scream of "All our hopes lie here!", Hekiru flings the sphere away, and it's caught by Chihiro as she enters. Chihiro says that the Flowers of the End all fought together as sisters, and she couldn't be the only one not to die for this. She then vows that she'll protect Misaka. Hekiru smiles at her and nods before collapsing to the ground, after which Chihiro rushes over and takes Hekiru in her arms.

Hekiru tells Chihiro that she can't feel any negative magie inside her, and she knows that Chihiro will live on. With her final breath, she asks Chihiro to live for her and the other Flowers, her sisters. Chihiro bursts into tears, repeating Hekiru's name again and again.

Homare, Totori and Misaka are fighting Rusalka only a short distance away. The three of them pin Rusalka down, then shout for Chihiro to take the finish shot. Chihiro is in disbelief that they want ''her'' to do it, but Misaka tells her that doing it will fulfill their oath. With a scream, Chihiro uses the others' CHARMs as a brace for her own as she fires the Magisphere at Rusalka, blowing her away.

===Epilogue===

The battle against Rusalka is over at last, and all the members of Sanngriðr lie fallen upon the ground. Chihiro is the first to stand up, reciting an ancient love poem as she does. Misaka rises to her feet as well, only for Chihiro to point her CHARM at Misaka and tell her to kill her.

She shouts that she and the Flowers were monsters who fought other Lilies as if they were Huge, that she can't bear to be alone again, and that it's fate that Misaka should put an end to her. As she fends off Chihiro's strikes, Misaka tells her that she's a Lily and not a monster, but Chihiro denies it with a scream and further denies that she's even the same Chihiro who Misaka once knew. Desperately, Misaka tries to remind Chihiro that the Flowers wanted her to live, but her words fail to reach Chihiro and their blades continue to clash.

Eventually, Misaka falls to her knees, laying her sword down by her side. She tells Chihiro that she could never let her be alone again. With a wail, Chihiro charges at Misaka with her CHARM held high, but Seira rushes in and wraps her arms tightly around Chihiro before she can bring her blade down upon Misaka. She begs Chihiro to stop, saying there's been enough pain and fighting already. Rising to her feet, Misaka promises Chihiro that she'll never leave her alone, and Chihiro drops her CHARM and collapses. Seira and Misaka fall to their knees beside Chihiro and embrace her, with Luise joining them in the embrace a short time later.

Chihiro moans that she's hurt all of them, but Seira tells Chihiro that she's been hurt too, and that Seira is glad she's alive. She asks Chihiro to come back to Yurigaoka with them, and Misaka echoes her words. With the other members of Sanngriðr standing nearby, Chihiro asks in disbelief if all of them would really accept her, and Misaka tells her that she was always a part of Sanngriðr. She asks Chihiro to come with them and make their dream from long ago come true. Tearfully, Chihiro thanks all of them.

Touka, standing a short distance away, watches Misaka and Chihiro with an icy expression.

Elsewhere, while holding a large book in her hands, Nadeshiko declares what has happened to be a miracle thought beyond humanity. She says that she shall watch and wait from afar, then lights the book on fire, burning its contents.

Following the curtain call, as the rest of the cast exits the stage via the sides, Misaka turns and walks towards the darkness at the back of the stage. For a moment, everything goes pitch black... but then light illuminates the grinning silhouette of Rusalka, standing in the spot where Misaka was just moments earlier.

Production of ''New Chapter 2'' was led by pius in collabroation with Azone International, with Obanazawa Ken'ei (尾花沢軒栄), the author of the ''Assault Lily'' series, in charge of the primary draft. The screenplay was developed by Sakuragi Sakaya (桜木さやか) of the [[Ludvico Girls High School (troupe)|Ludvico Girls High School]] theatre troupe, with Tanabe Toshiki (田邊俊喜) of Spacenoid Company in charge of stage direction. Tani Naoki (谷ナオキ) composed the play's opening theme, "[[Ties of Fate]]", and ending theme, "[[To Choose One Flower]]", both performed by the stage actresses, and was also responsible for the play's soundtrack and music direction.

Marimo was part of the [[13 Sisters Project]], and is one of a group of 13 special Boosted Lilies that were created at [[Kuramayama Girls' High School of Environmental Science]]. The experiment's goal was to create "a group of [[Princess Huge]] that could be an entire Legion together in the future", she and the other test subjects were designated with Roman numerals, from First to Thirteen. Marimo herself was the 13th of them and the final one of the sisters.

As a child, she was small in stature and was loved by those around her, serving as something akin to their mascot. That was in the past; most of her fellow test subjects are dead now. In the same order in which they were numbered, some died in battle, while others were taken away for experiments and never seen again. Up until she escaped from the facility, Marimo was by their side in their last moments, and she vowed that she would carry their last wishes with her and see them granted.

As her companions perished one by one, Marimo lost all hope and became filled with hatred. One day, when she was being taken from Kuramayama to the lab at [[Sielulintu]], she went berserk and was brought to Irmin Lillan Lab for treatment<ref name="dec17_2022">[https://twitter.com/assault_lily/status/1604120941868773377 @assault_lily twitter, December 17, 2022]. In order to carry on the plan that she and her sisters from Kuramayama would create a legion, Marimo sought to fight the Huge as an Irma Lily, but when rumors spread that had been boosted to a terrifying degree, it made it difficult for her to fit in at the school.

However, [[Ichinomiya Michaela Himari|Himari]] took interest in Marimo's theory that the [[Neunwelt Tactic]] should be performed with the utmost aggression, and spoke to her about it. To Marimo, finding someone who shared the outlook on battle that she had developed at Kuramayama was no less than a dream come true. "It makes me truly happy that you appreciate the way I... no, the way that we fight," she told Himari.

When Marimo was in her third year of junior high school, she took part in the Defense of Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, and was among those who pushed back against [[Tsuzuki Hisui]]'s proposal to abandon the Garden. "If we let them have our Garden, it'll only cost us that much more when we take it back. With me among you, now's the time when being reckless will pay off, isn't it? Fight with me!"

Marimo was not present at the [[Odaiba Counteroffensive]], but she was involved with the differences of opinion that arose among Irma's Big Four when they returned from the battle. Himari began to espouse the point of view of "fighting freely and beautifully," which was not unlike Marimo's desire for a more aggressive Neunwelt, and delighted her to hear. == History ==
In the past, Hiromi had an older sister who was in Kanba with her, and also a member of the Idol Lily Club. However, she died in a Huge attack protecting Hiromi, and Hiromi developed an obsession with claiming revenge. Later, when she learned that [[Toki Kureha]]'s singing voice could summon the very Huge that killed her sister, she used Kureha and put everyone at the Garden at risk. [[Legion Gran Eple]] was able to successfully prevent a disaster, and while Hiromi realized her mistake, she was nevertheless suspended.

Some time later, Hiromi was allowed to return to Kanba. Her remorse over her past actions was evident, and she also came back more determined than ever to protect Kanba. With Gran Eple now merged with the Student Council Defense Team as an expeditionary legion, Kanba faced periods where they had no unified team to defend the campus in case of another attack. Hiromi lobbied for an adoption of the "instructor approval" system of legion creation over the "top legion" system, but due to her past, many people still held grudges for putting them all in danger.

As of yet, while [[Shibukawa Chie]] and [[Muramoto Anzu]] are both supporting Hiromi in her desire, she nevertheless has yet to be successful in convincing the Garden a new legion is necessary.

== Personality ==
Hiromi seems calm and composed on the outside, and for the most part, she is. However, due to her past mistakes, she commonly second-guesses herself and shows a fair deal of self-doubt. Currently, she is surrounded by supportive people who understand her motivations, and has even been forgiven for her actions. While she is always grateful to those who are kind to her, particularly to [[Shibukawa Chie]], she sometimes feels as though she doesn't deserve it. This need to prove herself pushes her in her current aim for establishing a new legion at Kanba.

== Combat Style ==
Hiromi, like most 3rd years, is a highly skilled duelist who also displays a keen tactical insight. Her personal fighting style is somewhat reminiscent of a fencer, taking a balanced approach towards offense and defense.

Hiromi first appeared in Last Bullet in the "Idol Lily Stage" event held in March 2021. She had a plainer design then, more akin to an NPC. In September 2025 she reappeared in a new event, "Resolute Kaleido Flowers," with an updated design that made her stand out more. Notably, part of this design change was that [[Heterochromia iridum|her eyes are different colors now]]. Princess Huge

Princess Huge (ヒュージの姫 ''hyuuji no hime'') are Lilies who can control Huge<ref>Assault Lily: Last Bullet, ''Prayers from an Ancient Sky'' event story (scene 2-2)</ref>. They are of extreme interest to GEHENA scientists, who are attempting to create more of them. However, doing so requires a [[Boosted Lily]] who has been boosted to extreme levels and not succumbed to the "fading" (狂化 ''kyouka'') that is a mixture of extreme pain, suffering, and simply being somewhat less human than before. Lilies who become Princess Huge are both human and also Huge, yet also neither one in essence.

Boosted Lilies who have "opened the door" to being Princess Huge also can take a consort (ツガイ ''tsugai'' usually pair or mate). Two Princess Huge Lilies who have been implanted with cells from the same Huge share a "wavelength," and by joining hands, they can access a new level of power that they previously did not have access to<ref Name="tfg">Demonstrated in [[Assault Lily: The Fateful Gift]]</ref>. However, "wavelength" can also be determined via close emotional bonds, even if two Princess Huge do not share Huge cells<ref Name="nc2">Demonstrated in [[Assault Lily: New Chapter 2]]</ref>.

That said, without the close bond, or without having the same Huge cells, it is impossible for two Princess Huge to consort with one another. There must be one or the other. Note also that despite the wording there is no permanence to consorts. All that is required to "consort" is to hold hands and remain with hands held. Once the Princess Huges let go, they lose the power. Likewise, they can then clasp hands with another if they like (though the above restriction still applies).

[[Kishimoto Lucia Raimu]] and [[Sasaki Ran]] also have the additional quality of having been Boosted while in the womb. In their specific case, Huge tend to avoid attacking them.
