Amamiya Sophia Seren

From Assault Lily Wiki

Amamiya Sophia Seren (天宮・ソフィア・聖恋) is a first-year Lily who attends Ludvico Private Girls' Academy. She is a member of Legion Ironside and a former member of the Garden's Top Legion, the Temple Legion. She is the Schwester of Kuroki Francisca Yuria and the childhood friend of Kishimoto Lucia Raimu and her older sister Kishimoto Maria Mirai. Seren is one of the main protagonists of the Ludvico series of stage plays.

Personality

[edit | edit source]

Seren is a somewhat boyish girl, best exemplified by her use of the traditionally masculine first person pronoun "オレ" (Ore). This is likely a result of her desire to become a strong and reliable figure to the usually meek Raimu from an early age. Because of this, Seren is a confident and forward individual, capable of addressing others very frankly, and unabashedly approaching other Lilies of her Garden, even if they are her seniors, as shown when meeting her Schwester, Yuria.

However, Seren will still become flustered at times, particularly in her more intimate moments with Raimu or Yuria, both of which she holds genuine affection for. Seren is also troubled by Narumi Clara Yuko's infatuation with her, often left disconcerted at the girl's advances.

Seren places great value in her strength, both physically and emotionally, as she strives to become strong enough to fulfill her promise to Mirai that she'd keep Raimu safe. Because of this, Seren is very protective of Raimu not only in combat, but also in their daily lives, often becoming greatly angered whenever her childhood friend is harassed or insulted by others, and will even confront Lilies of high status, such as Kaede Johan Nouvel, should they mistreat Raimu in any way. Consequently, Seren's pride on her strength is easily injured, and she'll become equally enraged whenever she is regarded by others as "weak", even when it causes herself detriment.

Seren seems to place great value in her familial bonds. Having lost her biological family at a young age, she was often in the care of the Kishimoto family, whom she eventually came to see as her own. She grew very close to Mirai, and is described to have secretly developed feelings of love towards Raimu.[1] Likewise, Seren would grow very close with her Schwester, Yuria, even entrusting the older Lily with the rosary left to her by her late mother. Because of this, Seren was left in utter shock when she was falsely told that Raimu's father had been the one to kill her mother, to the point of attempting to strike Raimu with her CHARM as a result of suffering a mental breakdown[2]. Conversely, when learning that her own father had been the true culprit, she battled him with no hesitation, telling him that "Raimu is my family" when he attempted to appeal to their blood relations.

History

[edit | edit source]

Before Seren was born, her father, the radical GEHENA researcher Professor Amamiya, led research into the effects of implanting Huge cells into unborn fetuses. Amamiya attempted to use his wife, a retired Lily, for his experiments when she was pregnant with Seren, but she was able to escape and give birth to Seren in secret, before eventually being murdered in order to prevent her from revealing the information to the public.

Seren was taken in by the Kishimoto family, and quickly developed a bond with their eldest daughter, Kishimoto Maria Mirai, whom Seren came to see as her own older sister, as well as with Mirai's younger sister, Raimu. Mirai was a renowned Lily of Ludvico Private Girls' Academy, leading Seren and Raimu to deeply admire her, and the pair began aspiring to become Lilies themselves. Mirai welcomed the idea, and entrusted Seren with a Medalha matching her own, which she planned to give to Raimu once she became a Lily.

After the death of Raimu and Mirai's mother, Seren vowed to keep Raimu safe in her stead, making a promise with Mirai that she would do so whatever the cost. However, Mirai would one day desert Ludvico and disappear entirely, leaving Seren and Raimu desolate, and furthering Seren's desire to protect Raimu in Mirai's absence. As such, Seren continued to train as a Lily, and despite being much more skilled than Raimu, she remained by her side, wishing to enroll into Ludvico together once they graduate from junior high.[3]

Schwester's Prayer

[edit | edit source]

Main article: Assault Lily: Schwester's Prayer

During their time in junior high, Raimu unexpectedly found herself before a Cave, with Ludvico's Temple Legion battling the continuously emerging Huge. Seren finds Raimu and urges her to flee, but she refuses, citing the promise she had made with Mirai that she would "become a Lily just like her". As a Gigant-class Huge emerges, the pair are surprised by the reappearance of Mirai, but to Raimu's dismay, she is coldly dismissed by her older sister, being told that "she is unfit to be a Lily". Mirai unleashes her Rare Skill, Phase Transcendence, and fires back against the Huge before a massive explosion claims her life.

A year later, Seren and Raimu formally enroll into Ludvico, where they meet and befriend fellow first years Saeki Julia Karen, Hasegawa Gabriella Tsugumi and Haneda Catalina Mei, who are awestruck by Seren having passed the entrance exams at the very top of their class. Seren remarks that she wishes to become a first-rate Lily as fast as possible, with Raimu adding how she had continuously trained for hours on end every single day. Seren also meets Narumi Clara Yuko, Nagase Marta Nonoka and Hanaoka Angela Moe, and though the trio are equally impressed by Seren's skill, Clara declares that she has fallen in love with her, much to Seren's confusion.

Joined by Class A's Hojo Monica Asahi, the first years discuss the Garden's Schwester System, with Seren stating that she'd like the strongest Lily in all of the Garden to become her Schwester, with the others presuming her to mean the newly enrolled Ichinomiya Michaela Himari. Raimu expresses that she'd like to have a Schwester of her own, but after Clara mocks her for performing poorly during the entrance exams, Seren snaps at her.

During Class B's first training session, Seren is placed under Himari's tutelage together with Moe. Due to her experience, she is one of the few Lilies to present a good performance in the combat simulations, earning her Himari's praise. After their training session concludes, Seren finds Raimu suffering from an intense headache after attempting to remember Mirai's final moments. Raimu tells Seren that she cannot remember how her sister died, and Seren frantically reassures Raimu that she does not have to remember it, insisting that Mirai died an honorable death.

Seren offers to switch places with Raimu during training, seeing how the latter's poor performance led her to be admonished by Fukuyama Jeanne Sachie. Raimu refuses, however, believing Sachie to have a good heart deep down, as she was Mirai's former Schwester. Seren is later approached by Clara, who asks her why someone of her talents is so devoted to Raimu, and Seren tells her of how she had promised to Mirai that she'd keep Raimu safe no matter what, wishing to become a Lily even stronger than Mirai was to make that happen. When Clara asks if Seren became a Lily solely for Raimu's sake, Seren appears bothered by the question, telling Clara that it's "none of her business".

Ludvico is alerted to the appearance of a Cave, and with no orders to assemble the Temple Legion, all Lilies are deployed to the battlefield. Seren leaves for battle by herself, but in her desperation to prove her strength, she is unable to fight against the Huge effectively. She is once again met by Clara, and the Lily scolds her for fighting too erratically, remarking that she is currently too weak to reach Mirai's level. Seren is enraged by her comment, but this only causes her to continue struggling to fight properly, a sentiment exacerbated as the pair briefly runs into Kuroki Francisca Yuria, who dismisses them as a nuisance. Seren and Clara are joined by Asahi, and after watching her fight in perfect synchronicity with Clara, Seren runs off by herself once again, frustrated.

Seren eventually meets with Raimu, who had been looking for her as the battle progressed. Surrounded by six Large-class Huge, Seren attempts to fight them by herself in order to keep Raimu safe, but she is predictably overwhelmed. The second year Lilies arrive at the scene, and Raimu and Seren join them as they begin fighting the Huge as a team, eventually succeeding in taking down all the Huge through their joint efforts, as well as the aid of Ryuto Girls' Academy Arsenal Amatsu Marei. After the battle, Seren apologizes to Raimu for failing to keep her safe, visibly disappointed at herself.

Later, Seren retrieves the Medalha given to her by Mirai, recalling how the older Lily appeared extremely sad before she disappeared. She speaks with Seto Veronica Ichika, who assures her that she shouldn't worry about her poor performance previously, but, noticing how Seren seemed to be avoiding Raimu throughout the battle, advises Seren to not let her desire to protect Raimu prevent the Lily from maturing on her own.

During Ludvico's Easter Festival, Seren learns that Raimu was suddenly targeted by the Huge after a Cave appeared near Maria's Hill, Ludvico's cemetery. Seren and Raimu are appointed as members of the Temple Legion, and they make their way to the Cave's location, predicting the appearance of a Gigant-class. There, Seren hands Raimu Mirai's Medalha, which matches the one worn by Sachie. The Gigant-class appears, and the Temple Legion begins a Neunwelt Tactic.

Matsunaga Brigitta Kayo reveals to the others how she learned that the reason Mirai had left Ludvico was because she had been made into a Boosted Lily prior to her death. This prompts Raimu to once again inquire Seren what truly happened when Mirai died, and though reluctant, Seren reveals that, due to her Phase Transcendence going out of control, Mirai herself had exploded before the two of them. Though left in shock, Raimu is still able to take the final shot of the Neunwelt and successfully destroy the Gigant-class.

In the aftermath of the battle, Seren approaches Yuria, who herself is a Boosted Lily, and asks her that she become her Schwester. She tells Yuria of her desire to become as strong as possible and surpass Mirai, and hopes that she'll be able to realize that by becoming her pupil. Yuria refuses, however, telling Seren that being near her would only bring her danger, as she is also at risk of losing control of her powers the same way Mirai did.

Schwester's Secret

[edit | edit source]

Main article: Assault Lily: Schwester's Secret

Despite the second year's repeated refusal, Seren continues to pursue Yuria, wishing to become her Schwester. Yuria dismisses Seren's desire to become stronger, telling her of how being one of the most powerful Lilies within Ludvico only led Mirai and herself to be targeted by GEHENA.

Seren finds Raimu training by herself, determined to better wield the Asterion left behind by Mirai. Though worried for her friend's mental state after learning of her sister's fate, Raimu assures her that she is glad to have learned the truth. Nonetheless, Seren advises Raimu not to push herself too much. Reuniting with the other first years, Seren learns that Asahi had awakened to The Way of the World, the same Rare Skill as hers, and as they also share a Zone, Asahi taunts Seren, remarking that she might be chosen for the Temple Legion in her place next.

Clara comes to Seren's defense, arguing that Asahi is simply desperate to once again become her partner as they once were during junior high. Flustered, Asahi throws Seren a challenge, where the first to take the Schwester's Oath with the strongest Lily they can find, wins the right to become Clara's partner, and though uninterested in Clara, Seren agrees to her challenge. Seren once again requests that Yuria become her Schwester, this time suggesting that they duel for it, but Yuria once again refuses, remarking how as a Boosted Lily, the only way she could be defeated is by being killed her, something Seren would not be able to do.

Following the appearance of a Cave, Seren and Raimu are once again selected for the Temple Legion. The Legion begins a Neunwelt Tactic soon after arriving at the Cave's location, but though their finishing shot is successful, the Huge is not destroyed. Depleted of their Magie, the Temple Legion is unable to continue fighting, but to their surprise, they are rescued by a still living Mirai, who uses her Phase Transcendence to divert the Huge away from the Lilies. Mirai leaves immediately after, prompting Seren, Raimu and Sachie to pursue her.

However, as soon as the trio reaches Mirai, the Lily begins attacking them, displaying an animalistic level of anger. Seren and Sachie fight Mirai as they plead with her to come to her senses, and after glimpsing at Sachie's Medalha, Mirai is able to briefly regain her consciousness. Mirai tearfully expresses her gratitude to Seren for keeping the promise she made her, but at the same time, she urges all three of them to stay away from her, telling them she is "no longer herself". Ultimately, Mirai asks that if they encounter her again, they must kill her with no hesitation. Mirai once again leaves, as Sachie, Raimu and Seren are left in utter shock.

As Temple Legion is deployed to neutralize another Cave, they are once again met with Mirai as they perform the Neunwelt Tactic. This time, however, Mirai immediately begins attacking the Lilies, and is able to overpower all of the Temple Legion. After noticing she was able to recover from an otherwise fatal wound, Yuria surmises that Mirai had undergone a second Boosting procedure after her apparent death, which caused the Huge cells in her body to become unstable. Theorizing that the only way to defeat her is by shooting her with the Magisphere, Seren and Sachie, as well as the other Temple Legion members, work to restrain Mirai, allowing a reluctant Raimu to take the shot.

As the Huge cells are purged from Mirai's body, she is once again able to regain her consciousness, and in her final moments, she expresses her pride on both Sachie and Seren, while once again assuring Raimu that she'll grow to become an outstanding Lily.

In the aftermath, Seren yet again asks that Yuria become her Schwester, and to her surprise, the older Lily agrees. Yuria remarks that after their previous battle, she now also wishes for Seren to surpass Mirai so that her death may not be in vain. After exchanging their Medalhas, Yuria agrees to personally train Seren, to ensure she becomes the strongest Lily she can be.

White Resistance ~The Promise's Path~

[edit | edit source]

Main article: Assault Lily: White Resistance ~The Promise's Path~

Following the departure of Izumi Rosa Rina, the first year Lilies begin training under the supervision of the newly arrived instructors Kaido Beatrice Chiharu and Makabe Melania Sayoko. Noticing that Yuria is unusually absent, Seren trains under the guidance of Tachibana Theresia Nagisa, being one of the few first years to perform well during the session. Meanwhile, Ichika speaks with Yuria, who explains that as she possesses Regenerator, she is able to quickly heal her wounds, but the pain still remains, and while she did not mind it before, witnessing Mirai made her fearful of her powers once again. Ichika advises Yuria to discuss with Seren about it.

After training, Seren attempts to encourage Raimu after her poor performance during training, while defending her from Asahi's mocking. Seren presumably joins the other first years as they decide to hold extra practice sessions amongst themselves after classes. During one of these sessions, Seren finds Raimu still practicing by herself after the other first years had left, frustrated that she still cannot make any progress despite Sachie's teachings. The pair meets Ichika, who reveals to them how before leaving the Garden, Mirai had her Asterion remodeled to better fit Raimu's body plan. Ichika encourages Raimu to stop attempting to mimic her sister, and instead find her own way of wielding the CHARM.

As they speak, the Lilies learn that Himari had been suddenly ambushed by a Cave, which went undetected by Ludvico's systems. They immediately set off to rescue them, but only arrive after the remaining Temple Legion members succeed in repelling the Huge thanks to Moe's awakening of the Rare Skill Phantasm. Though all Lilies emerge from the battle unscathed, Sachie declares that she will no longer integrate the Temple Legion, and will instead form a Legion of their own, as she had grown increasingly distrustful of Ludvico's administration due to their compliance in the Boosting experiments conducted by GEHENA.

After Sachie announces her departure from the Temple Legion, Seren and Raimu join her in attempting to recruit new members. They approach their first year classmates, but are unable to recruit any of them. Seren attempts to invite Yuria, who is curious of Seren's motivations for joining the Legion. Seren tells Yuria of how she had lost her mother at a young age, and after being taken in by the Kishimoto family, she vowed to protect Raimu at any cost after her mother also died. Yuria refuses to join, remarking that Seren is already strong enough by herself, and does not need her aid. Seren insists, expressing that she does not wish to be away from Yuria and risk losing her, but Yuria tells Seren that she won't die, as she is unable to.

Seren finds a letter in her locker left by Sayoko, which leads her to meet the Instructor in one of the Garden's private rooms. Sayoko tells Seren that she learned that Raimu's father, Professor Kishimoto, had murdered her mother after failing to use her as a test subject in GEHENA's observations on the effects of Huge cells in unborn fetuses. Seren is completely distraught at this revelation, and though the Garden's Cave alarm goes off, she refuses to regroup with Sachie's Legion, Ironside, aimlessly wandering about while fighting off the Huge by herself.

Raimu finds Seren, and attempts to bring her back to their Legion, but Seren refuses, acting unusually cold and aggressive towards her. Suffering a breakdown, Seren begins to swing her CHARM, before being stopped by Sachie. The two Lilies battle, and Sachie eventually knocks Seren down. She reveals to the pair what Instructor Sayoko had told her about her mother's fate, prompting Sachie to ask Seren that she weighs her words against her own experiences with Raimu and Mirai, arguing that even if what she's been told is the truth, it's yet another reason to join them in taking a stance for what's just.

Regaining her clarity, Seren rejoins Ironside, and reuniting with their remaining Legion members, they join the Temple Legion in performing a Neunwelt Tactic. Receiving the Magisphere, Raimu tells Seren that she wants to believe in her father's innocence, before taking the shot and falling unconscious. After the battle, Seren apologizes to Raimu for her erratic behavior, and declares that she too hopes Professor Kishimoto is innocent, but that she will spare no mercy to whoever it was that killed her mother. The pair is then approached by Sachie, who tells them of the mysterious murder of Instructor Chiharu, with Rina declared as the culprit.

White Resistance ~The Blade of Truth~

[edit | edit source]

Main article: Assault Lily: White Resistance ~The Blade of Truth~

Legion Ironside remains active despite the disapproval of the Garden's administration, often encountering the Temple Legion in the battlefield. Due to the desertion of four regular Temple Legion members for the rebel Ironside, tensions have increased within Ludvico. During their regular training session, Raimu and Seren learn that Sachie had been blacklisted from training with them as punishment for rebelling against the Garden's orders, preventing them from training as a Legion. In their refusal to acknowledge this, Raimu and Seren are also promptly removed from the training session, however, Instructor Kosaka Anastasia Ryoko secretly brings the pair to Sachie, allowing them to train together.

Later on, Seren and Raimu approach Sano Matilda Kokoro and her Schwester, Haneda Catalina Mei, in order to help them find more information pertaining to the murder of Seren's mother. Seren offers Kokoro a large amount of money as compensation, but the second year begrudgingly refuses it. They discuss Professor Kishimoto's current whereabouts, and when attempting to remember her mother, Raimu suffers an intense headache, just as she once did when attempting to remember Mirai's final moments. While Kokoro, Mei, and Kayo search within the Garden for information, Raimu invites Seren to return to her old family home, hoping to find any useful information within her father's old belongings.

With Raimu and Seren isolated from the rest of the Garden, GEHENA seizes the opportunity to ambush them with a Cave. Barely holding their own, the pair is joined by Yuria as they face three Large-class Huge. Seren is knocked down, prompting Yuria to immediately move in to defend her Schwester from an incoming attack, leaving her seriously injured for a moment. Legion Ironside arrives, successfully repelling the remaining Huge. In their trip, Raimu was able to retrieve an observation journal belonging to her father, and through the journal's details, they're able to ascertain that Professor Kishimoto was not responsible for the murder of Seren's mother, but they also notice that, strangely, the very last page of the journal has been ripped off.

The Lilies are approached by Instructor Ryoko, who wishes to help them in their investigation in order to prove Instructor Rina's innocence. Hoping to uncover more information, Raimu and Seren follow Kokoro, Kayo and Mei to Instructor Rina's old room, but they're promptly ambushed by Sayoko, who is eager to learn the contents of Professor Kishimoto's journal. They are rescued by Rina, who hands Seren the last page of the journal, which had previously been in Mirai's possession.

With a Gigant-class appearing near Ludvico, Raimu and Seren are able to reunite with Legion Ironside, and together with the Temple Legion, they set off in pursuit of the Huge after their first Neunwelt had failed. After Kokoro successfully retrieves them a second bullet, the two Legions begin a Neunwelt Tactic, with Raimu receiving the final pass. But before she can take the shot, however, they're ambushed by Sayoko and Toride Suzanne Reika, who reveal that they purposefully intended to drain the Lilies of their Magie so they could more easily retrieve Raimu. The two Instructors demand that the Temple Legion retreat, and that Seren hand them the last page of Professor Kishimoto's journal, but after both Himari and Seren refuse to comply, the Instructors disable the protective barrier surrounding Ludvico.

A Great Cave soon forms over the Garden's campus, and the Huge begin attacking its facilities in large numbers. As such, most of the Temple Legion leaves in order to aid in evacuating the Lilies, while Ironside begin fighting Sayoko and Reika. The Instructors reveal to Seren that it was her father, Professor Amamiya, who led the experiments on the unborn, using Raimu's mother as his subject after Seren's mother had refused to comply. Enraged at this revelation, Seren attempts to attack the Instructors, but is easily overpowered, and as Seren is about to be killed, Raimu unleashes the full power of her Charisma, leading the Instructors to realize that, in order for her power to grow, Raimu must undergo a traumatic experience such as the death of a loved one.

Rina and Ryoko join their students in fighting the Instructors, but to their horror, Ryoko mercilessly kills both Sayoko and Reika. The Instructor reveals herself to be Professor Amamiya, who had fused his consciousness with her own in order to continue his observations of Raimu in secret. As Ryoko and the Lilies battle, she attempts to convince Seren to stand down, as she does not wish for her own daughter to die, but Seren refuses, remarking that Raimu is her only family. Ryoko tells Raimu of how the experiments conducted on her mother made her a Boosted Lily from birth, which causes her to be seen by the Huge as one of their own.

The Lilies are completely overpowered by Ryoko, who is herself a Boosted Lily with a near limitless output of Magie. Raimu is eventually able to make use of her bond with the Huge to prompt the Gigant-class Huge into attacking Ryoko, and seizing the opportunity, Seren tries to hold her in place so she can be hit. However, Ryoko breaks free of Seren's grasp and lethally wounds her. Believing she will not survive, Seren bids Raimu farewell, lamenting her own weakness and telling Raimu that she was glad to have grown up together with her and Mirai. Mustering all of her strength, Seren fires at the Gigant-class Huge in order to provoke it into attacking, while she and Yuria once again hold Ryoko in place, causing all three to be hit.

With Ryoko knocked out, Himari is able to finally destroy the Gigant-class. However, the Instructor soon regains her consciousness, and believing Seren to be dead, a furious Raimu decides to battle the Instructor by herself before being stopped by Sachie, who takes it upon herself to land a lethal blow in Ryoko, purging Professor Amamiya's consciousness from her body, though costing Ryoko's life.

In her grief, Raimu loses her will to continue fighting as a Lily, but Sachie and Yuria disagree with her decision, remarking how it would make all the sacrifices made for her be in vain. Encouraged by her words, Raimu decides to continue fighting, and she reunites with Seren, revealed to have survived the battle. Praying to Mirai's soul, Raimu promises her to realize the dreams that she left them with.

New Chapter

[edit | edit source]

Main article: Assault Lily: New Chapter

Legion Ironside was elected to integrate the multi-Garden survey team tasked with investigating the mysterious nests that appeared in the islands of Izu Oshima, Tokyo. Raimu, Sachie and Seren join the twins Funada Kiito and Funada Ui, as well as Shiba Tomoshibi of Odaiba Girls' School's Legion Hronesnæsse, as well as Ueda Imari and Kamigoori Marimo of Irma Girls' School for the Arts' Legion Hakolberand, and Aizawa Kazuha and Matsumura Fuka of Herensuge Legions Hervör and Cuélebre in their mission.

After encountering a swarm of Huge immediately upon landing, the survey team finds Yurigaoka Girls' Academy's Legion Sanngriðr locked in combat with the Flowers of the End. They join the Yurigaoka Legion in repelling them, but Raimu finds herself struggling to fight properly. Once successfully driving the Flowers away, the survey team is joined by Kaede Johan Nouvel and Futagawa Fumi, where they are told by Marimo of the 13 Sisters Project conducted by the Garden of Kuramayama, which sought the creation of a Legion of Princesses. Surmising that the Flowers are remnants of the Lilies who were unable to endure the Boosting experiments, the survey team decide to further investigate the matter, agreeing to rejoin Sanngriðr in fighting them should they reappear.

Raimu shares her sympathies with Sanngriðr after they identify the leader of the Flowers as their longtime friend Yamaguchi Chihiro, recalling her own encounter with Mirai after she had been resurrected. Following the disappearance of Hasebe Touka, the survey team agree to search for her while Sanngriðr pursue the Flowers, but while they're able to pinpoint her location with the aid of Nakahara Mary Tomoyo, they are forced to pivot objectives after the appearance of an Irregular Huge that could eventually lead to the formation of a Death Zone.

Arriving deep within the island's undercities, the survey team encounters a protective shield, and with no other choice, they initiate a Neunwelt Tactic to destroy it. Upon destroying the shield, the teams are faced with a Juggernaut, with Raimu and Tomoshibi utilizing their Rare Skills to purify the surrounding Negative Magie in the area while the survey team performs a second Neunwelt.

However, Raimu and the other Boosted Lilies present suddenly begin attacking the other members of the survey team, influenced by the Juggernaut's Negative Magie restraining device. The non Boosted members of the survey team continue to fight the Juggernaut, while making the Neunwelt's passes and keeping the Boosted Lilies at bay, eventually allowing for Kaede to take the finishing shot, which repels the Juggernaut and freeing the Boosted Lilies from the Negative Magie's influence.

New Chapter 2

[edit | edit source]

Main article: Assault Lily: New Chapter 2

Following their battle with the Juggernaut, the survey team is informed by Legion Álfheimr of their encounter with the legendary Ultra-class Charybdis, who was accompanied by the humanoid Huge Rusalka. They learn that the Juggernaut had been developed by Ludvico Labs, and of its abilities to increase its powers every time it fights. As they speak, the four nests mature to completion, establishing a Death Zone in Oshima island. After developing a plan to permanently defeat it, the survey team continues to pursue the Juggernaut, with Raimu and Tomoshibi once again tasked with purifying the Negative Magie from the Death Zone.

The survey team struggles to take down the Juggernaut, and frustrated, Raimu attempts to step into battle, but she is stopped by Seren, who reminds her that she must conserve her power throughout their mission. Seren is particularly determined to destroy the Juggernaut after learning that it had been created in Ludvico Labs, and as such, is likely a product of her father's research. Despite the survey team's attempts, however, the Juggernaut proves to be incredibly resilient, eventually driving Sachie to use the technique Vanishing, sufficiently weakening the Juggernaut and allowing it to be defeated by the Funada Sisters.

Though Sanngriðr succeeds in destroying one of the nests, the Death Zone persists, as a result of Charybdis and Rusalka creating their own nest. Mashima Moyu deduces they should be able to dissipate the Death Zone by separating the pair of Huge from their nest. The Legions are suddenly ambushed by Rusalka, and the survey team joins Sanngriðr in fighting the humanoid Huge. However, both teams are depleted of their Magie, and are unable to create a powerful enough Magisphere, even with the aid of Raimu and Tomoshibi's Laplace.

The Legions are joined by the Flowers, having regained their consciousness. Raimu, Seren and Sachie briefly fight Rusalka while the remaining Lilies continue their Neunwelt, with the Flowers pouring all of their remaining Magie into completing the Magisphere, eventually allowing Chihiro, together with Sanngriðr, to successfully destroy Rusalka.

Toyline

[edit | edit source]

Seren had two dolls released as part of the Assault Lily toyline, titled "Assault Lily Side Story No.51: Amamiya Sophia Seren", both released in August 2019. The two dolls are virtually identical, their only differing factor being the hairpiece, with one featuring Seren with ginger hair, in accordance with her character design[4], while the other features Seren with brown hair, matching the natural hair color of Seren's actress, Hoshimori Sana[5]. Both dolls feature four swappable faceplates, and are adorned with the Temple Legion's jacket. The CHARM included in both versions is the Dainsleif Carbine.

Family

[edit | edit source]

Seren's mother was said to be a retired Lily. When pregnant with Seren, her partner, Professor Amamiya, attempted to use her in his experiments with Boosting unborn fetuses. She refused to comply and escaped from his company, giving birth to Seren in secret. She lived with Seren only in her very early infancy, as she would eventually be murdered (presumably by Professor Amamiya) in order to prevent her from revealing GEHENA's research.

Seren's father was a radical GEHENA researcher, leading their efforts in observing the effects of Huge cells on the unborn. After failing to use his partner, Seren's mother, for his experiments, he turned to using Raimu's mother instead, resulting in Raimu (and seemingly Mirai) to be born as Boosted Lilies. He kept close watch on Raimu after she was born, and is presumably the one responsible for killing her mother, an event which led her to awaken her Rare Skill, Charisma, at only age 6. In order to continue his observations, Professor Amamiya arranged for Raimu to be admitted into Ludvico, and merged his own consciousness with that of Instructor Kosaka Anastasia Ryoko in order to closely monitor the Lily.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Seren's confirmation name, "Sophia", is likely in reference to Saint Sophia of Milan, better known as the mother of the martyred Saints of Faith, Hope and Charity.
  • Seren's existence as a character predates her presence in the Assault Lily universe. A character named "Amamiya Seren" appeared in the 2015 play "Fukan Shoujo" by Ludvico Private Girls' Academy, where she was performed by Ogata Momo.
  • Seren's feelings towards Raimu are implied to be romantic. In the Ludvico edition of the Assault Lily Magazine, it is stated that her desire to protect Raimu led her to secretly develop "feelings of love" (恋心) for her, and when first proposing that Yuria become her Schwester, she jokingly tells Seren that she "is not one for comforting hearts that have awakened to love", leaving Seren incredibly flustered.
  • Seren's boyish demeanor has lead to her occasionally being compared to a boy by other characters, both as a taunt (such as when Narumi Clara Yuko told Seren she was "acting like a boy in love") and affectionately (such as when Kishimoto Maria Mirai said Seren was "like a little brother to her.")
  • Seren's primary actress, Hoshimori Sana, is the most recurring actress across all Assault Lily media, having portrayed:
  • Seren's likes include fireworks, swimming pools and summer festivals.[6]
  • Seren's hobbies include training and athletic sports.[7]
  • Seren dislikes drawing, as she believes she does not have any talent for it.[8]
  • Seren's favorite foods are corn and sour gummies.[3]
