Murakami Tokiwa

Murakami Tokiwa (村上常盤) is a Lily who attends Yurigaoka Girls' Academy. She is a member of Legion Sanngriðr. Her Schild is Kondo Misaka.
Personality[edit | edit source]
A consummate Lily of Yurigaoka, Tokiwa never forgets to carry herself in an elegant and dignified manner, not even during battle. Everyone views her with great respect due to this.
Tokiwa is fond of black tea, and insists that every pot be brewed with high-quality leaves. She takes part in the "Water Evening Tea Parties" held by Rokkaku Shiori and Kudo Sakua of Legion Reginleif, providing them with the tea that they use, and through these tea parties has made friends with Lilies of a variety of ages[1].

For many years now, Tokiwa has watched over Kondo Misaka. She adores the way that Misaka conducts herself more than anyone else, and believes that Misaka has promise still. "In the future, Misaka will be a Lily who can lead Yurigaoka," Tokiwa has always said with confidence. She supports Misaka in good times and in bad, overcoming every difficulty together with her. Her unbreakable bond with Misaka is that of the ideal Schutzengel.
Back when she was in junior high, there was a time when people called Misaka "the strongest candidate to become Brynhildr", but she had a hard time adapting to the Neunwelt Tactic and other Lilies viewed her far less favorably as a result. After a while, people started telling Misaka that it would be a struggle for her to become captain of a legion, let alone the Brynhildr.
Tokiwa paid no heed to this, and supported Misaka wholeheartedly as the girl continued to devote herself to training. "Your slow burn will shine brightest," she said. "Misaka, you put everything into your training, and never once have you given up. That's your true worth, and it's enough to make you shine like the sun."
It may well be that Misaka was able to continue applying herself, without ever losing heart, during the bleakest part of her life only due to Tokiwa's encouragement[1].
The Formation of Sanngriðr[edit | edit source]
Alongside Tokiwa and her friends, Misaka renewed her efforts to form Legion Sanngriðr in her first year of high school. While Misaka didn't have any enemies, most people thought of her as a Lily of no note, making it hard to recruit members. As a result, she was only able to recruit some junior high school girls who couldn't become official members of the legion.
Tokiwa had the idea to ask a close friend of hers, Noda Ameri, to have some members of her Legion Ginnungagap be listed as members of Sanngrithr when they applied to form the legion. They devised a plan to have five Lilies—Sekino Youko, Takeuchi Eiko, Nagayama Kaname, Ide Nodoka, and Noda Ameri herself—simultaneously act as members of both LG Ginnungagap and LG Sanngriðr. This was possible because LG Ginnungagap, the legion under the direct control of the Labyrinth Sorority, is itself not an official legion and its members are considered freelance Lilies by Yurigaoka.
Legion Sanngriðr was finally registered because of Misaka, Totori and Homare's accomplishments during the Odaiba Counteroffensive, but some say that Tokiwa herself was also a factor. Before she set off to take part in the Makuhari Recapture, Tokiwa announced "After I return from Makuhari, I do not intend to sortie with any legion other than Sanngrithr." She took part in the battle as a freelance Lily and provided support to Legion Brynhildr Line.
It would be a great loss for Yurigaoka if they couldn't send Tokiwa to battle, so this was likely another reason they were permitted to form Sanngriðr[1].
Combat Style[edit | edit source]
Tokiwa is one of the most adaptable of the third-year students and, as Sanngriðr's left-side BZ, plays a major role. She's still quite famous for the three gigants she sniped to death at long range during the Third Defense of Oiso.
After Tokiwa makes a shot, she has a unique way of loading a new magie cartridge into her B-type Armament by spin-cocking it, and many younger Lilies admire it.
When it comes to the Neunwelt Tactic, Tokiwa is aggressive for a Lily who fights in the BZ. She's notable for her ability to move forward, but also to fire the finish shot from long range. Tokiwa's ability to fight with the team is a major asset to Sanngriðr, as she can make ultra-fast passes—almost as fast as the finish shots themselves—to her Schild, Misaka[1].
