Phantasm
Phantasm, also known as Phantasmal Perception (幻想可視力), is a Rare Skill.
A Lily with Phantasm can glimpse a vast number of illusionary futures and instantly ascertain the one that will lead to their desired outcome. In essence, the user repeatedly simulates hypothetical futures within their own mind until they find a satisfactory one. They can then telepathically transmit the outcome of this process to others nearby.
Using this skill without having mutual trust and a spirit of cooperation with those around you is nothing more than selfishness. For this reason, some Lilies who have this skill neglect it, choosing never to use it at all.
Phantasm is one of the least common Rare Skills, and those Lilies with it are the subject of much attention.[2] It is tied with Regista as the Rare Skill most sought after by Gardens[3].
The first Lily in history to awaken Phantasm was Anja Herzog, during the Antarctic Campaign[4].
The subskill version of Phantasm is Rainbow Path (虹の軌跡).
Phantasm Styles
[edit | edit source]There are several "styles" to Phantasm, which represent how it is used by the awakened who possesses it. Some focus on individual combat and others group combat, but Phantasm is capable of both; these styles represent not a "hard limit of capability" but rather where the Lily focuses her use of her ability.
Intuitive Style
[edit | edit source]The archetypal Phantasm style, which emphasizes intuition over tactical approaches. "No-look passes," wherein one can successfully make passes during a Neunwelt Tactic without looking (either catching or passing), are characteristic of this style.
Speed Style
[edit | edit source]This style emphasizes quick movements and preemptive attacks to control the battlefield.
Bestial Style
[edit | edit source]This style focuses on individual combat, that is, dueling. While it's possible for Bestial Phantasm-awakened to use it for group combat as well, and usually do in order to make finish shot plays, they're more focused on predicting enemy attacks in one-on-one combat.
It's noted to be quite similar to a Lunatic Trancer user in the AZ; it was common in the dueling era among Phantasm-awakened, but today is vanishingly rare.
Balance Style
[edit | edit source]With no particular lean, this style of Phantasm-awakened can adapt their use of Phantasm to any tactics in the field.
Power Style
[edit | edit source]Little information has been given for this style, but it's thought to be somewhere in between Intuitive and Bestial styles. Very few people use this style.
