Asukai Tsubasa

Asukai Tsubasa (飛鳥井翼彩) is a second year Lily who attends Rokuyaon Girls' Lamasery. She is a member of Team Enran. Said to be a "flawless beauty" who is also known as Rokuyaon's troublemaker, she is often mistaken for a first year despite being a second year.

As a Lily training to be a Buddhist nun (bhikkuni), Tsubasa fights using her weapons in flexible ways that are not bound by common sense. Innocent, carefree, and bright of personality, as well as endlessly affectionate, Tsubasa is an indispensable part of her legion. Her guardian deity is the sacred bird Karura, and from this, as well as her multiple faults in personality and her poor memory (said to be bad enough that she'll forget anything after taking three steps), her friends will sometimes call her "Hyoko," or "Chicklet." Being both a trouble maker and a mood maker, Tsubasa's positivity is undefeatable, and is a constant source of energy for others around her.

Tsubasa was born to a normal family, and was the youngest of four sisters. This led to her being doted on by her whole family, and so her earliest years were peaceful and happy. However, this spoiling also made her dependent, and outside of her family she was a shy and reserved child. Tsubasa went through a difficult period where she was unable to enter any friend groups with kids her age, and was only able to open herself up to others with the help of one of her sisters.

This moment instilled within her an awareness that her own feelings and attentiveness could make others feel more at ease, as well.

When Kyoto was half-destroyed due to a surge of Huge, Tsubasa's beloved sister, the one who had shown her how to make friends, was one of those who died in the attack. At the funeral, she saw how the chanting of sutras could bring tears to the eyes of the rest of her family, and at that moment, Tsubasa decided. Both to become a nun to save the hearts of people, and a Lily to save not just the lives of people, but all life itself.

Tsubasa is in an Aun Pair with Ichijo Mizumi. Though Tsubasa is in a higher school grade, their birthdays are only four days apart, and therefore they're really only separated by school year. Tsubasa nevertheless attempts to act like a senior at times, but usually what happens is the mature and composed Mizumi ends up treating Tsubasa like a naive and sheltered girl in need of care.

Combat Style

In middle school, Tsubasa was an active participant in rhythmic gymnastics. Her body retains its springiness from that experience, and she remains highly nimble and agile. However, she's small in stature and possesses little muscle strength in her arms, so tends to struggle whenever she gets into power matches in battle. Her strong points are the mentality she takes into battle which allows her to fight in a self-sacrificing manner for her legion, as well as her quick wit and ability to think up unique or even peculiar tactics.
