Makino Mitake

Makino Mitake (牧野美岳) is a second year Lily who attends Herensuge Institute for Girls. She is a member of Legion Cuélebre. A "cool beauty" type who serves as the pillar of Cuélebre's discipline and tactics, she nevertheless is not viewed favorably by the rest of Herensuge due to her "abandoning" the Garden in the past.

History

Having lived through the Hinode Tragedy, Mitake resolved to become stronger. She did everything she could to place highly in Herensuge's ranking competition, seeking to become one of the top 7 so that she could lead a legion of her own. However, despite her ambitions, she was placed 8th, denying her this right. At the beginning of her second year in high school, Mitake decided to leave Herensuge and instead attend Ludvico Private Girls' Seminary, which she felt might give her a chance to achieve her dream, still.

However, shortly after her transfer, Ludvico collapsed and could no longer function as a Garden. Gravely injured during the battle, Mitake underwent boosting procedures and became a Boosted Lily. Afterwards, she had no choice but to return to Herensuge. Others around her viewed her as disloyal or opportunistic, and her overall rank within Herensuge fell sharply. Despite this, Matsumura Fuuka, a Lily she had something of a rivalry with in the past, treated her no differently, and in fact went so far as to invite Mitake to her legion, Cuélebre.

Though Mitake's goal was to lead a legion, in truth, she desires only to do what is right and to never allow another Hinode Tragedy to occur. Fighting with Cuélebre is what helped her to realize this.

Personality

Mitake is a very driven individual, and this comes across in her frank speech. However, she can't be said to be blunt or thoughtless, and in fact can be seen to be very considerate. This is especially true when speaking with Fuuka, who is normally very aggressive with her opinions. Mitake is said to be the "number one Fuuka understander" and can talk to her reasonably in any circumstance.

  • Despite this, she doesn't fiddle with unfamiliar devices, and will ask for help if she can't manage on her own
• Because she's a reader, both of books and manga, Mitake enjoys discussing them with legionmate Morimoto Yuni often.
• Mitake's surname may be a reference to the real-world botanist Makino Tomitaro, who made contributions to archaeological research.
