Tsuboi Nanaho

Tsuboi Nanaho (坪井七保) is a second year Lily who attends Herensuge Institute for Girls. She is a member of Legion Basa-Andre and serves as its captain. She is also the head disciplinarian at Herensuge. Nanaho is best known for being small for a second year student, yet still insisting that others call her "oneesan" and treating her like a dependable older sister figure.

Personality

Nanaho is a well-mannered girl who speaks softly and gently. However, as the head disciplinarian of Herensuge, she can also be strict about rules and morality. Due to an older Lily she met earlier in life whom she cherished, she has something of a fixation on the idea of being an "oneesan" (elder sister) to those around her, desiring to care for others, and for others to rely on her for advice and things of that nature. She can become a little smug about her oneesan qualities therefore, but she always means well.

Despite her outward demeanor, Nanaho can be described as passionate, particularly regarding justice for Lilies. This can be seen in her being outspoken and critical of Herensuge's policies, even though she holds an official office with political power as head disciplinarian.

History

Nanaho is not a Boosted Lily, and she claims her Skiller value is nothing special, yet even so, as a second year Lily, she is still ranked number three overall at Herensuge, behind only Aizawa Kazuha and Matsumura Fuka, notably two extremely powerful Boosted Lilies. This is due to Nanaho's efforts and diligence, and her constantly striving to improve. Even at the elementary school level, Nanaho underwent even Odaiba's strict training programs to get better. Her drive comes from meeting one Kanaseki Korin, a Lily a year older than she is, who influenced much of her life.

Two years ago at the Hinode Tragedy, Nanaho was mobilized along with Korin. However, her team was attacked by a Gigant Huge known as Managarmr. Nanaho, in her final year of middle school, awoke to her rare skill of Shukuchi during the fighting. Korin ordered her to use her newly developed ability to run back to Herensuge command and directly ask for reinforcements. Despite her inhuman speed, however, she wouldn't make it in time, and Korin (along with many others) died.

Though Korin's death left Nanaho in tatters, she to this day believes she carries on the older girl's wishes, and works to change Herensuge from the inside. This is why she's so strongly supportive of Aizawa Kazuha, who also strives for the same goal.

A year after the Tragedy, Nanaho participated in the Makuhari Recapture campaign, taking the position of captain when Herensuge sent a regulation nine-member Larrun legion to participate in the fighting.

• The characters in Nanaho's given name mean "seven" (七) and "protect" (保). Her surname, Tsuboi, literally means "two-tatami well."
  • Nanaho's surname may be a reference to the real-world archaeologist Tsuboi Kiyotari.
