13 Sisters Project

From Assault Lily Wiki

The 13 Sisters Project was an experiment conducted by GEHENA out of the Kuramayama Labs associated with Kuramayama Girls' High School of Environmental Science. The goal of the experiment was to create a legion of Princess Huge. The thought was that an entire legion of such powerful Boosted Lilies would be able to exterminate the Huge. It was overseen originally by Kojima Nadeshiko.

The experiment failed after a series of incidents ended in the total destruction of the lab, with most people involved with it (researcher and test subject alike) either dead or having escaped. While in the aftermath of the experiment, certain atrocities would be brought to light, the experiment was at its onset a genuine attempt to make things better. It got off the ground at all thanks to being located in western Japan, which has a deeply entrenched belief among Lilies that becoming Boosted is a noble sacrifice for a higher cause.[1]

Experiment Ranking

[edit | edit source]

Lilies in the Project were given a rank, which did not (necessarily) express the Lily's strength, but rather their suitability for the project's end goal (i.e., whether or not they could become Princess Huge and whether they could serve within a legion). The top thirteen ranked Lilies were set apart from the others by being given roman numerals (I through XIII), which denoted they were the most suitable for being part of the end goal legion (hence, 13 Sisters Project). There was also a plan to make a support legion out of the next 13 (ranks 14 - 26) Lilies.

A Lily's rank could fluctuate depending on various factors, such as how well she took to the boosting procedures. Considering Shiba Tomoshibi was noted to "not be favored" for the project, and her rank exceeded 200, there were quite a few Lilies involved with the project.

The Project's Failure

[edit | edit source]

Several years ago (current 2nd years in 2052 were in elementary school at the time) Nadeshiko was working at Yurigaoka Girls' Academy as an instructor. She was minding her two favored Boosted Lilies, Tsukamoto Hekiru and Yamaguchi Chihiro, both of whom she expected great things from. Her experiments led her to attempt the incident known as the "Irregular Small-type Raid" in which a massive swarm of Small-type Huge attacked a group of then-elementary school aged Lilies, primarily Chihiro. Chihiro died in the attack, but unexpectedly, so did Hekiru.

Hekiru's body was damaged far worse than Chihiro's was, but Nadeshiko was and still is a master of the Installation technique. She was able to transfer Hekiru's soul into another unnamed Lily's body at Kuramayama, but could not stay long to oversee the process of Hekiru's recovery, having to maintain her cover at Yurigaoka. She left the lab, as well as Chihiro and Hekiru, under the stewardship of one Inaba Mayumi, and this proved to be a fatal mistake.

Mayumi, admiring Nadeshiko's genius, was fascinated with herself learning the secrets of Installation and reviving people from the dead. She toyed with both Chihiro and Hekiru, examining the processes which Nadeshiko used to save them both. For Chihiro, this would eventually drive her to become a "remnant" (成れの果て nare no hate) which essentially is a mindless zombie. Hekiru meanwhile suffered in her own way before also becoming a remnant (see her page for more details).

This did not satisfy Mayumi however, and she began to ramp up the 13 Sister Project experiment. While under Nadeshiko's direction girls were always asked for consent for every procedure and given time to recover, Mayumi began to force Lilies into them. The experiments got worse and worse over time, and many, many Lilies were either killed or broken.

The incident that brought the experiment to a halt however was when Komai Sasara, Komai Sumire's mother, attempted to allow Shiba Tomoshibi to escape the facility. Mayumi found out about it and killed Sasara right in front of Tomoshibi, which made her snap. She then proceeded to massacre most of the remaining research staff at the lab, making it literally unable to continue.

Test Subjects

[edit | edit source]

The project had over 200 Lilies take part in it, and while many died, many also escaped. The following is a list only of Lilies who are confirmed to have been part of the experiment. Note also that a few of the Lilies were a "fixed number" meaning they were of particular interest to Nadeshiko and their rank did not fluctuate.

Successor Experiments

[edit | edit source]

Though the 13 Sisters Project failed, GEHENA's desire to create more Princess Huge didn't waver. Other experiments were conducted by GEHENA extremists, with the most notable and most successful one being the experiment with Legion Hervor.
