Miyazaki Hikaru

Miyazaki Hikaru (宮崎火刈) is a third year Lily who attends Sakuranomori Kamakura Prefectural Girls' High School. She serves as the "Oban" of Sakuranomori, which is equivalent to Yurigaoka's Brynhildr—the military commander of all Lilies at Sakuranomori.

Personality

Suitable for her "stoic" demeanor, Hikaru speaks sternly and bluntly, like an old warrior would. Indeed, sometimes even uses old-fashioned language like the samurai of old. Though thoroughly a "warrior," she is not a pure musclehead type, and can navigate political situations with suitable skill as a leader. Though harsh on others, she's harsher on herself, with her one pastime being painting.

At the moment, Hikaru's greatest desire stems from mending the gap between the factions behind her political position, the Oban, and that of the other political seat at Sakuranomori, the Shrine Priestess. Though the current Priestess, Okada Shiho, is Hikaru's childhood friend and they get along well enough to be viewed like a married couple, the rift between their two factions remains. Her desire comes from wanting all of Sakuranomori to be able to join together and fight the Huge as one. It's something she expects she'll need Katsuya Fuyo to complete her work on, however.

History

Hikaru is the only daughter of a hero, Miyazaki Kagari (宮崎篝火). Despite her lineage however, she told at an early age that her Skiller Value was so low that she had no hope of becoming a Lily in the future. Despite (or because of) this evaluation, the young Hikaru threw herself into hellish training before she even entered kindergarten, and somehow managed to improve her situation enough to enter Ouka Private Girls' Junior High, the feeder school for Sakuranomori Garden.

Even that much, however, still didn't improve her prospects, with everyone around Hikaru still viewing her as lacking. She pressed on, more determined than ever, to the point that even when she began fighting Huge, she would push through pain and injury on the battlefield, never backing down. This determination clearly surpassed what was typical for others, and by the time she entered high school, she was a fairly well-known Lily. Once she hit her third year, Hikaru became the Oban of Sakuranomori, and was known as one of the most formidable fighters currently active in Japan.

Born to a noble family yet lacking talent, she nevertheless fought her way to the top, and many take inspiration from that.

Combat Style

It's said that Shirai Yuyu is a lot like Hikaru. Hikaru is a front line Lily who has peerless offense and defensive skill, and can stand alone where others would need support from their allies. Hikaru's preferred tactic is the "lone charge," racing straight into the thick of things with little need to wait for backup. She wins at it, too, given how well she's mastered her evasive rare skill, Way of the World.

• Katsuya Fuyo: As a special admissions student this year, Fuyo has caught Hikaru's eye. Hikaru takes her everywhere, and is particularly vocal about instilling discipline within her. Many people claim this makes her like Hikaru's little sister, but for Hikaru, it's because she expects great things from Fuyo.

• Despite the bad blood between Sagami and Sakuranomori, Hikaru being friends with several Sagami girls has done a lot to make for a better relationship, of late.
