Kawabata Hotaru

Kawabata Hotaru (川端蛍) is a Lily who attends Odaiba Girls' School. She is a member of Legion Hronesnæsse.

As one of the fruits of Odaiba Girls' School’s training project, known as the "Shining Ones," Hotaru has long been regarded as a promising talent among the current first and second-year students. She has an exceptionally high Skiller Value and awakened the rare skill Circlet Bless during the Odaiba Counteroffensive in her first year of high school. This skill, often seen as a mark of an ace, and often accompanied by the saying "No Weaklings among the Awakened," aligned perfectly with the school's ethos, earning her high praise.

Personality

Hotaru, with her cheerful personality, is beloved and respected by both older and younger Lilies. In her junior high school years, she served as a student council member and formed a close bond with the Funada sisters from the moment they joined the Garden. She is one of the few Lilies who Funada Kiito truly listens to.

History

When Funada Kiito attempted to reform the student training policy based on ability during her time in the student council, Hotaru strongly opposed it. However, even with both Ui and Hotaru against it, they could not stop Kiito, who was eventually forced out of her position as student council president. Fujita Asagao tried to convince Ui to stay, but in the end, she chose to leave alongside Kiito.

After advancing to high school, Hotaru repeatedly declined invitations from Legion Heorot Saints to join them because of a promise she made with the Funada sisters during their study abroad.

The Odaiba Counteroffensive

During the Odaiba Counteroffensive, Hotaru fought in the 5th Division alongside Lilies from Nakaogushi Girls' Academy. The operation's only major mistake was a misjudgment by Senda Koume, which recklessly pursued the Huge. Hotaru was the one who stepped in to cover for this mistake.

While protecting the injured Koume, Hotaru fended off an ambushing large Huge and pushed forward to secure the designated evacuation route. As Koume was stunned with shock, Hotaru encouraged her and proposed holding off the Huge to protect the evacuees. It was an extremely dangerous decision that could have resulted in total annihilation, but Yoshimura Thi Mai and Miyamoto Komuku agreed with her plan. They set up a defensive position on a bridge and engaged in a deadly battle with countless Huge. When the already injured Koume was forced to withdraw midway, Hotaru replaced the core of her CHARM and borrowed Koume's weapon, as her Jötunn-Schwert had reached its limit.

The Huge that slipped through were handled by Hishida Haru and others in various parts of Odaiba, allowing for a successful recovery from the 5th's previous error. This decision was something only Hotaru, known for her bravery, could pull off, but even she was utterly exhausted this time, barely able to stand when the 3rd division arrived for reinforcements.

The Bridging Role in Hronesnæsse

When the Funada sisters returned from their studies abroad and announced the formation of Legion Hronesnæsse, Hotaru immediately decided to join. As the first independently established legion within the Garden, it garnered significant attention. While they managed to assemble enough members, the team lacked cohesion, splitting into two groups—one led by Kiito, Ui, Nagasawa Yuki, Hotaru, and Shiba Tomoshibi, and another led by Fujita Asagao, Kozue West, Imamura Yukari, and Igusa Subaru. Hotaru played the role of bridging these two groups.

Combat Style

Hotaru excels in a balanced fighting style that seamlessly transitions between offense and defense, demonstrating both elegance and efficiency in her CHARM maneuvers.

With Circlet Bless, Hotaru selects a secondary weapon based on the battle conditions. For prolonged battles or multiple strong opponents, she wields a DC-22 Charlemagne, while for single decisive strikes, she equips a high-output cannon CHARM. Her logical and methodical approach to combat is a key reason for her high reputation.
