Kusakabe Murasame

Kusakabe Murasame (日下部叢雨) is a first year Lily who attends Irma Girls' High School for the Arts. She is a member of Legion Irminshines.

Personality

Murasame is well-mannered, but also quite timid, particularly when it comes to fighting Huge. She does her utmost for her friends in her legion, is sensible, and prioritizes teamwork, so she's well-suited for having Charisma as her rare skill. Even so, she's dependent on her sister Rengetsu to even be able to stand on the battlefield.

History

At an early age, the Irmin-Lillian Lab determined both Murasame and Rengetsu were likely to develop Charisma. As Irma is a Garden that places emphasis on the BZ in Neunwelt formations, this put the twins squarely in their sights—they believed it important to cultivate the twins, giving them strong education and training to help them develop their talent as Lilies.

However, after the two entered Irma, it became quickly clear that no matter how high of a potential Murasame had, her personality was simple too timid. Some began to doubt whether she'd even be able to stand on a real battlefield. Despite this, Rengetsu would always protect her sister. Though one could say Murasame grew dependent on Rengetsu for this protection, she nevertheless grew confident enough to be able to pick up a CHARM.

Rengetsu was seen as the standout between the twins... until she did not, in fact, awaken to Charisma, but rather Heliosphere. Meanwhile, Murasame did awaken to Charisma as predicted. And just like that, over night, the expectations of both flipped, with Rengetsu starting to earn less attention from the Garden and Murasame more.

Even today it's said that the future of Irminshines will be carried by the Kusakabe twins, and back then the Garden's attention to the two was rather high, to the point that others began to feel jealousy over it. With Murasame now receiving the bulk of the attention (positive and negative), her personality retreated even further into outright cowardice, to the point that she literally could not fight unless Rengetsu was right next to her.

This was solidified for Murasame during the Kiyosumi-Shirakawa defense battle two years ago, where Murasame and Rengetsu both fought to protect the Irma school campus. Murasame was too overwhelmed with fear to even fight, even when surrounded by Huge. Rengetsu however desperately fought to protect her sister, and took serious injuries while doing so. The sisters nearly met their end, but Murasame supplied Rengetsu with magie (her first signs of awakening to Charisma), which allowed Rengetsu to save them both. Seeing Rengetsu's bravery, fighting even while injured, made it clear to Murasame's cowardly heart that she could only ever fight if Rengetsu was with her.

Murasame admires her sister from the bottom of her heart due to Rengetsu always protecting her and giving her advice. Her dependency, however, urged the Garden to arrange it such that Murasame's room is right next to Rengetsu's in the dorm. Despite her cowardice, it's this closeness that allows her to sleep alone in her room, knowing her sister is right next door.
