Miliam Hildegard von Guropius
Miliam Hildegard von Guropius (ミリアム・ヒルデガルド・v・グロピウス) is a Lily who attends Yurigaoka Girls' Academy. She is a member of Team Hitotsuyanagi. Her Schutzengel is Mashima Moyu.

Miliam was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. She is the only daughter of Lothar von Guropius, a hero who made his name during the Antarctic Campaign. She was both talented and mischievous from a young age.
Miliam's interest in CHARMs began when her mother brought a gear assembly home from her workplace, which the girl, partly as a prank and partly out of curiosity, took apart and then reassembled on her own initiative. Her parents, impressed by her natural talent, transferred her from the normal elementary school she was attending to a Garden. Miliam then began to study CHARMs and Magi; she did not aspire to be a Lily at this time.
Arsenals each have their specialties, like Mashima Moyu's radical new theories or Amatsu Marei's ambitious CHARM designs. Miliam's specialties are repair and maintenance, and they showed themselves on the very day her parents first saw her talent, even without any formal education. When it comes to technical knowledge, she tries to be moderately well versed in every subject of importance—a rare goal for Arsenals, who often devote themselves to a single narrow field, striving to master it.
Of course, Miliam isn't just an Arsenal. During her third year of junior high school, while she was on the move, she was attacked by Huge. While fighting them off, she unexpectedly awoke to a Rare Skill—Phase Transcendence, a skill perfectly suited to combat. This caused Miliam to reconsider her future. While she had always wanted to be an Arsenal, she felt it would be a waste given that she had a Rare Skill now.
Miliam could have stayed in Europe and fought the Huge there, but her father, Lothar, was an old acquaintance of Takamatsu Shiera from their time fighting together in the Antarctic Campaign. He decided to enroll her in the garden at which Shiera was chairwoman, Yurigaoka. Yurigaoka was well-known for training "Combat Arsenals" that, although they technically belong to the Arsenal Department, need to have a Lily's strength in addition to an Arsenal's knowledge. This made it an ideal Garden for Miliam, who was well on her way to having both of those things.
Miliam wasn't required to take the entrance exam when she entered Yurigaoka[2].

In Assault Lily: Bouquet, following the destruction of the Yuigahama Nest, Miliam and Moyu took the Schutzengel's Oath together[3].

Miliam is an only child.
Miliam's father, Lothar von Guropius, is a survivor of the Antarctic Campaign who fought under the command of Takamatsu Shiera. Famous for his bravery, he is considered one of its heroes. With a Skiller Value of only 40, Lothar was never able to use a CHARM. He instead used modified conventional weapons to kill a remarkable number of small-type Huge; the concepts behind his prototype weapons were later refined into the anti-Huge weapons still used by Madecs. He currently works for the Yggdrasil Corporation, though he is not involved in CHARM manufacturing[4].
Miliam's peculiar manner of speaking in Japanese is due to the influence of her father, who himself has a faulty understanding of the language[4].
Miliam's mother, Debora von Guropius, was once an Arsenal. She was the one who modified Lothar's weapons to make them moderately effective against the Huge, despite not being CHARMs. Since this later lead to the development of anti-Huge weaponry, Debora is commonly known as the "Mother of the Anti-Huge Weapon." In the present day, she's a writer for World Lily Graphic magazine on CHARM-related topics[5].

- Miliam's hobbies are tinkering with CHARMS, and listening to and collecting merchandise from "Charmy Lily."
- Miliam's favorite foods are anything super sweet, like honey and gomme syrup. She can't stand spicy food[5].
- In Miliam's oldest character design, from Assault Lily: Move Out, Team Hitotsuyanagi!, she did not have an ahoge.
- Miliam appears to be considerably shorter (under 145cm) in her Assault Lily: Last Bullet design, but there is no confirmed height for this design.
- Miliam's name is a variant of Miriam, the elder sister of Moses and Aaron in the Old Testament. Her middle name, Hildegard, is Old German for "battle-yard." Her surname, Guropius, originates from a German word meaning "dig" and originally meant a professional digger of ditches or graves.
- Miliam's surname may be a reference to the real-world architect Walter Gropius.
