Toride Suzanne Reika

Toride Suzanne Reika (取手・スザンヌ・麗香) was an Instructor at Ludvico Private Girls' Academy. A loyal aide of GEHENA, she was elected to continue supervision of their experiments on Ludvico's Lilies following Izumi Rosa Rina's resignation, serving as one of the primary antagonists in White Resistance ~The Promise's Path~ and White Resistance ~The Blade of Truth~.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Reika is calm and measured, always coming off as cordial and respectful even towards those that oppose her actions. As such, she exercises her authority in a more passive, coercive manner, rarely resorting to making explicit threats or raising her voice. She is still an imposing figure, however, with fellow Instructors such as Kosaka Anastasia Ryoko, and even her aide Makabe Melania Sayoko often appearing to be intimidated by her mere presence.
Unlike her predecessor, Izumi Rosa Rina, Reika has much closer ties with GEHENA, and as such knows more about their ambitions than Rina or Ryoko previously did. Reika is a loyal supporter of their unethical experiments with Ludvico's Lilies, frequently insisting that their work is, ultimately, "for the good of the Garden".

White Resistance ~The Promise's Path~[edit | edit source]

After Instructor Izumi Rosa Rina decided to depart from Ludvico, Reika, as well as newly arrived Instructors Makabe Melania Sayoko and Kaido Beatrice Chiharu, are appointed to replace her in supervising the first year Lilies' training. Reika delivers the news of Rina's departure to the students before beginning their usual training session.
Later, Reika speaks with Ryoko, telling her that she'll also be replacing both Rina and Ryoko in their conferences with GEHENA. She reminds Ryoko of the importance of Ludvico to GEHENA, and Ryoko voices her doubts in using their students as fodder for their goals. Reika, in turn, insists that doing so is a price that must be paid for the sake of Ludvico's future, and sternly advises Ryoko against falling into the same path of distrust that Rina did.
After Ryoko comes into possession of what appeared to be a secret continuation of Rina's journal, which detailed her discoveries on the Garden's secrets, she reports it to Reika. However, the Instructor tells Ryoko that Rina's matters are no longer pertinent to them, and that they should dispose of all of her belongings, as Rina shouldn't be returning to Ludvico again. Lastly, Reika shows Ryoko appreciation for her loyalty.
Following the mysterious murder of Instructor Chiharu, Reika makes an announcement to the whole of Ludvico's student body, where she declares Rina to be the culprit. As such, Rina is placed in the national most wanted list, and Ludvico is left on high alert for her potential reappearance.
White Resistance ~The Blade of Truth~[edit | edit source]
Main article: Assault Lily: White Resistance ~The Blade of Truth~
Following the formation of the rebel Legion Ironside, Reika informs the students that Fukuyama Jeanne Sachie will no longer be joining their training sessions as a penalty. Fellow Ironside members Kishimoto Lucia Raimu and Amamiya Sophia Seren protest her decision, and are subsequently removed from training as well. Saeki Julia Karen, another Ironside member, attempts to follow suit, but Reika simply ignores her, much to the Lily's annoyance.
After learning that Raimu and Seren enlisted the help of Sano Matilda Kokoro, Haneda Catalina Mei and Matsunaga Brigitta Kayo in learning more about the mysterious circumstances of Seren's mother's death, Reika orders Sayoko to kill the three Lilies. Though Sayoko fails to do so, the Instructors learn that Raimu and Seren had left Ludvico's premises in order to investigate Raimu's old family home. Seizing the opportunity, Reika informs Sayoko that the pair will be targeted by a Cave, and despite Sayoko's worries that Raimu, their primary target, may die in the ensuing battle, Reika assures her that GEHENA must have an objective in mind.
A Gigant-class Huge is deployed by GEHENA near Ludvico, and so, both Legion Ironside and the Temple Legion set off to defeat it. Reika and Sayoko confront the Lilies as they perform a Neunwelt Tactic, purposefully intending to drain all of them of their Magie, so they could more easily retrieve Raimu. Reika asks that Ichinomiya Michaela Himari, the captain of the Temple Legion, orders her teammates to withdraw, but she refuses to back down, prompting the Instructors to corner the Lilies with more Huge.
Reika then turns to Seren, demanding that she hand over the last page of the journal of Raimu's father, Professor Kishimoto, which purportedly contains vital information on Raimu's abilities. After Seren refuses, the Instructors disable the protective barrier that surrounds Ludvico, allowing multiple Caves to form, leading the Huge to directly attack the Garden's campus. As such, most of the Temple Legion members leave in order to protect the Lilies in the Garden's facilities, while Legion Ironside and Himari begin fighting against Reika and Sayoko.
The Instructors tell Seren that her father, Professor Amamiya, had been a GEHENA researcher who spearheaded experiments on unborn fetuses, having used Raimu's mother as a test subject after Seren's own mother refused to follow along with his plans. Seren, now enraged, attempts to attack Reika, but the Instructor effortlessly knocks her down. As Reika is about to kill Seren, Raimu unleashes the power of her Rare Skill, Charisma, leading Reika to conclude that if she witnesses Seren, her childhood friend, die before her eyes, the trauma will cause her powers to grow even further.
As the Lilies are continuously overpowered by the Instructors, they are joined by Rina, who had returned to Ludvico, and Instructor Ryoko. In the ensuing battle, the pair succeeds in disarming Reika, but unexpectedly, Ryoko kills both Reika and Sayoko in cold blood, with Reika insisting until the very end that their actions were not mistaken, as they were "for the good of this world".
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Reika's confirmation name, "Suzanne", is likely in reference to Catholic Saint Susanna of Rome, with Suzanne being a commonly adopted pronunciation of the name in French.
- Notably, "Suzanne" originates from the Hebrew word "shoshan" (שׁוֹשָׁן), which can be translated as "Lily".
- One of Reika's hobbies is fortune-telling.[1]
- Reika displays a similar level of combat capabilities as her partner, Sayoko, who is a Boosted Lily. This could imply that Reika is a Boosted Lily herself.
- Reika was said to fight "at the very front lines" during her active time, possibly implying her position to be the AZ.[2]
