Takatori Natalie Towa

Takatori Natalie Towa (高取・ナタリー・永遠) is a third year Lily who attends Ludvico Private Girls' Academy. She is a member of Legion Ironside, and formerly a member of the Garden's Top Legion, the Temple Legion, during the Duelist era, serving under the leadership of Kishimoto Maria Mirai. She is often together with Li Christina Susu.

Personality

Towa is rational and levelheaded, often making decisions that prioritize the most logical and feasible approaches to a situation. Because of this, Towa usually takes on the role of counterbalancing her more emotionally driven teammates, such as Kishimoto Maria Mirai or Fukuyama Jeanne Sachie. However, despite appearing as cool and diligent on the surface, Towa is not altogether emotionless, and is particularly determined to do right by the memory of the gentle and caring Mirai.

Unlike the loud and sharp-tongued Susu, Towa remains cordial and respectful at all times. And despite being older than most Lilies she shares the battlefield with, Towa always treats others with the same level of reverence, be it Lilies of legendary status, such as Sachie, or first year novices, like Saeki Julia Karen.

History

At some point, Towa met and became close friends with Li Christina Susu. During their first year of high school, the pair would be chosen to integrate Ludvico's Temple Legion, where they shared the battlefield with the prodigy Kishimoto Maria Mirai, as well as one Nosaka Jacqueline Kazane. The four of them developed a strong bond between themselves, openly confiding their worries and aspirations with each other. At an indeterminate point in time, Mirai confided in Towa and Susu her desire to leave the Temple Legion and instead form a Legion of their own, hoping to one day be joined by her Schwester, Fukuyama Jeanne Sachie, her childhood friend, Amamiya Sophia Seren, and her younger sister, Kishimoto Lucia Raimu.

The Bond with the White Rose - First Half

Towa and the Temple Legion set out to provide reinforcements to the Lilies of Irma Girls' High School for the Arts after a Great Cave formed over their Kiyosumi-Shirakawa campus. In the absence of Irma's Top Legion, the Irminshines, their front lines consisted mostly of junior high and first-year Lilies. As such, many of them were pushed beyond their limits and had given in to exhaustion by the time the Temple Legion arrived. And so, the Temple Legion took the lead in their counterattack shortly upon arriving, with Mirai, Kazane, Towa and Susu encouraging the junior Lilies to stand up and continue fighting for their Garden.

With the Temple Legion's aid, the Irma Lilies were successful in destroying the Great Cave and driving away the remaining Huge. However, the event greatly affected Mirai, who was particularly heartbroken after witnessing so many Lilies grieving the loss of their partners. And so, Mirai, Kazane, Towa and Susu make a pact among themselves, promising that if the same situation ever comes to pass in Ludvico, they should always prioritize saving the lives of the Garden's Lilies over saving the Garden itself.

The Makuhari Recapture

As second year Lilies, Towa, Susu, Mirai and Kazane were among the Lilies selected to participate in the Makuhari Recapture. Though Mirai and Kazane participated in the preparations for the operation, both Lilies would end up losing their lives before the main incursion. Towa became one of the many famous veterans from this battle, particularly noted for being the one to finish off the Greater Large-class Huge "Pale Ears".

White Resistance ~The Promise's Path~

A year later, Towa, now a third year Lily, is informed by Sachie, Matsunaga Brigitta Kayo and Tachibana Theresia Nagisa of how Mirai had been subjected twice to Boosting experiments after her apparent death a year prior, ultimately causing her to lose all sense of self and mindlessly attack them, before being killed by her own sister, Raimu. After comforting Sachie, Towa tells them of how she had began to harbor her own suspicions over Mirai's fate after her sudden disappearance prior to the Makuhari Recapture.

Kayo suggests that Towa joins them in training, so that she may return to the Temple Legion and keep close watch on GEHENA, as well as help them keep Raimu safe. However, Towa refuses, citing how the Temple Legion is still bound to act on Ludvico's will, and that it's likely they were complicit in the experiments conducted on Mirai by GEHENA. Instead, Towa proposes to Sachie that they form a completely independent Legion, telling her of how it had been a long held dream of Mirai's to form her own Legion with Sachie, Raimu and Seren, as well as Towa and Susu. As Sachie appears unsure, Towa grants her time to think it over.

After the Temple Legion's current captain, Ichinomiya Michaela Himari, suffers an ambush by a Cave created by GEHENA, Sachie decides to carry on in creating her own Legion, having lost all faith in Ludvico's administration. Reuniting with Towa and Susu, Sachie wonders if it would be possible for Himari to join their new Legion, but Towa argues that as the captain of the Temple Legion, she'll likely suffer severe retaliation from the Garden should she attempt to rebel against them. And so, they set off to recruit more members for their Legion, as they're currently short of the nine members required to perform the Neunwelt Tactic.

Their recruitment efforts are mostly unsuccessful, however, with only Seto Veronica Ichika and Saeki Julia Karen joining their Legion. As Ludvico receives a report of a Cave, the new Legion assembles for deployment, and donning a unique jacket of their own, Sachie declares their name as "Legion Ironside". They arrive at the battlefield, but as they're still unable to perform the Neunwelt Tactic, Legion Ironside takes to keeping the surrounding Huge at bay while the Temple Legion performs their Neunwelt.

However, the Temple Legion's Neunwelt fails halfway through, leaving half of its members depleted of their Magie. Legion Ironside is then joined by Kuroki Francisca Yuria, who brings a second Neunwelt bullet, and so, they perform their own Neunwelt together with the Temple Legion members with Magie still remaining, successfully destroying the Huge.

White Resistance ~The Blade of Truth~

Though not officially recognized by the Garden, Legion Ironside remains active, deploying together with the Temple Legion while acting independently. However, due to Yuria abandoning the Temple Legion to join Ironside, neither Legion possesses the nine members required to perform the Neunwelt Tactic. And so, when faced with a Gigant-class Huge, Legion Ironside once again turns to clearing the battlefield, while the Temple Legion relies on the aid of Instructor Makabe Melania Sayoko in order to defeat the Gigant-class.

Hoping to find more information on the possible involvement of Raimu's father, Professor Kishimoto, in the death of Seren's mother, Raimu and Seren return to the Kishimoto family's house in order to investigate Professor Kishimoto's old belongings. While away from the Garden, the pair is targeted by a Cave, with the large outpour of Small and Mid-class Huge preventing the other members of Legion Ironside from reaching them. Ironside is eventually able to regroup with the Temple Legion members, who agree to hold off the Huge while they set off to find Raimu and Seren. With their aid, Legion Ironside ultimately succeeds in rescuing the two first-years, who together with Yuria, had been surrounded by multiple Large-class Huge.

A Gigant-class Huge is released by GEHENA near Ludvico, and as the Temple Legion and Ironside assemble, Sachie learns that Raimu, Seren and Kayo were trapped fighting against Instructor Sayoko within the Garden. Himari orders Sachie, Yuria, Karen and Hasegawa Gabriella Tsugumi to rescue them, while the remaining Lilies perform the Neunwelt Tactic as a single team. However, their Neunwelt is interrupted by the appearance of a resurrected Kazane, who steals the Magisphere and fires it upon the Lilies. The Gigant-class begins to flee, and Ichika and Nagisa stay behind to fight Kazane while the remaining Lilies set off in pursuit of the Huge.

The double-Legion team reunites with Sachie's team, who were successful in retrieving Raimu, Seren and Kayo. Towa tells Sachie that they had encountered Kazane previously, concluding that she had been subjected to the same experiments as Mirai after her death. Sachie is heartbroken at the news, but Towa urges her to focus on defeating the Gigant-class so they can return to Ichika and Nagisa's aid. The Lilies hold their ground against the surrounding Huge while Sano Matilda Kokoro returns to the Garden campus to retrieve another Neunwelt bullet, with Karen ultimately awakening to the Rare Skill Regista in the ensuing battle.

The two Legions begin another joint Neunwelt as soon as Kokoro returns, with Karen and Hojo Monica Asahi being dispatched to find Ichika and Nagisa as soon as they make their passes. However, their Neunwelt is interrupted yet again as the Gigant-class flees once more, with the Lilies being approached by Instructors Sayoko and Toride Suzanne Reika, who are loyal aides to GEHENA. After the Lilies refuse to comply with their demands, the Instructors disable the protective barrier surrounding Ludvico. A Great Cave soon forms over the Garden, with the Huge pouring out in large numbers and attacking Ludvico's facilities. And so, Towa and Susu join the Temple Legion in returning to Ludvico in order to rescue the Garden's Lilies, while the remaining Legion Ironside members stay behind to fight the two Instructors.

The Bond with the White Rose - Second Half

Towa and Susu end up separated from the Temple Legion members while fighting on Ludvico's campus. With communications jammed due to the high concentration of Negative Magie in the area, and surrounded by Irregular Huge due to the test subjects on GEHENA's Ludvico Labs breaking free, the pair nonetheless continues to fight by themselves in order to aid the evacuation of Ludvico's Lilies.

As they fight, Towa and Susu encounter an Irregular Gigant-class, but without any other Lilies present to perform the Neunwelt Tactic, they instead attempt to draw the Huge away from Ludvico's vicinity. However, the pair are nearly depleted of their Magie due to the continuous battles they faced, and after Susu suffers an injury, Towa proposes that they instead retreat for the time being. While Susu strongly rejects the idea, Towa insists that they must survive in order to continue fighting for Ludvico.

Susu concedes, and the two begin to leave the area, continuing to fight against the surrounding Huge despite their extreme levels of exhaustion. They are eventually knocked down, but are shortly rescued by Irma's Legion Irminshines. The Irma Legion takes over fighting against the Gigant-class, while Towa and Susu stand back in order to replenish their Magie.

Concluding that the Gigant-class possesses the Dominator Skill, the Lilies predict they'll need to perform two Neunwelts just as they are met by Irma's Legion Hakolberand, who were accompanied by Karen, Asahi, Narumi Clara Yuko and Hanaoka Angela Moe. Towa insists that the Ludvico Lilies take the lead in the first Neunwelt, but as they are still short of nine members, they are supplanted by Irminshines members Nishikawa Miharu, Nakabayashi Kaina, Miyamoto Komuku, Tejima Komachi and the Kusakabe Twins.

With Miharu taking the lead, she suggests that Towa serve as their commander, but she refuses, instead proposing that Karen take the role, due to possessing the Rare Skill Regista. With Towa taking the finishing shot, their Neunwelt succeeds in disabling the Gigant-class' Dominator Skill, allowing Legion Hakolberand, as well as the remaining Irminshines members, to successfully destroy the Huge. However, the Great Cave looming over Ludvico still remains, and the Lilies are soon ambushed by its master, the burrowing Huge Sennen Mogura, the same type as the one responsible for the Kiyosumi-Shirakawa campus invasion.

Learning that the Sennen Mogura's paralyzing breath possesses a cooldown time, the Lilies devise a plan to force the Huge into using it so that it may be temporarily disabled, with the first years of each Legion acting as the lure, while the second and third years perform the Neunwelt Tactic. While their plan proceeds accordingly, they are unable to create a powerful enough Magisphere due to their exhaustion from the previous battles. Ludvico's first years ask that they join in as well, and Towa, recalling her promise to Mirai, also asks Miharu that they continue.

Together, the six Ludvico Lilies pour all of their remaining Magie into the Magisphere, while the Irminshines and Hakolberand Lilies attempt to wear down the Sennen Mogura. They are soon overpowered by the Huge, however, prompting Towa to attempt to make the finishing shot by herself, hoping to take advantage of the Magie Intensity to boost the Magisphere's power. Despite this, Towa is knocked down before she can take the shot, but as the Huge closes in on her, she is saved by Himari, who was able to find her way back to Ludvico's premises after battling Kosaka Anastasia Ryoko. Together with Miharu, Komachi and Hibino Waku, Himari completes the Magisphere, and finally succeeds in killing the Sennen Mogura, causing the Cave looming over Ludvico to be destroyed.

Though their efforts succeeded in securing the evacuation of Ludvico's Lilies, the Garden facilities were left completely in ruins, causing Ludvico to lose all functionality as a Garden. But while the first years are left heartbroken at the destruction of their Garden, Towa and Susu find solace in knowing they were able to keep their promise to Mirai and Kazane. With the Irregular Huge held in Ludvico Labs still roaming the Garden's vicinity, and the Temple Legion no longer existing in any official capacity, Towa relays to the other Lilies the orders of the Justify Committee to aid the Legions dispatched by other Gardens to cover Ludvico's territory while they work to rebuild their own Garden.

Trivia

• Towa's confirmation name, "Natalie", is likely in reference to Catholic Saint Natalia of Nicomedia, with "Natalie" being a commonly adopted spelling of the name in French.
• In the stage plays, Towa wears a padlock brandishing a fleur-de-lis symbol as a Medalha. The fleur-de-lis is notably shaped after the Lily flower.
• Towa's hobbies include reading.
• According to Futagawa Fumi, Towa considers herself a soldier first and foremost, and as such she is said to be unsuited to assume tactical commanding roles.
